Saw a very interesting series on Primitive mans ability to think just now. Seems that the earliest modern humans lived around 90000 years ago in souther africa.
Thier is evidence of symbolic artwork, that would lay to waste the Human revolution theory which states that primitive man began to " think " 30000 years ago suddenly. It seems man gradualy evolved speech and thinking patterns.

Abstract thinking

"I'm cautious about its significance," said Professor Chris Stringer, also of the Natural History Museum. "The association of the handaxe and the skeletons in this pit of bones is a very interesting one," adding that it was possible there was some sort of symbolic association.

A team of scientists led by an anthropologist at the University of California-Berkeley has discovered the fossilized remains of what they believe is humanity's earliest known ancestor, a creature that walked the wooded highlands of East Africa nearly 6 million years ago.

Nice Find. Deep.

But, we can't forget the fact that they have not found any other manmade artifacts nearby.

With his small discovery, but interesting, we can't come to any conclusion. Bummer.
