Shell unveils £1.5million-an-hour profits

www.tiscali.co.uk
Shell has reignited anger over excessive profits after revealing it made 27.6 billion US dollars (£13.9 billion) in 2007 - a new record for a UK company.

The figure - equivalent to more than £1.5 million an hour - prompted a fresh call from unions for a windfall tax on oil companies. It also comes at a time when motorists are paying forecourt petrol prices of more than £1 a litre.

well, for one thing these, as you call them fat cats, did not venture into
buying up all those mortgage bonds & other fraudlent investment paper.
They focused and concentrated on what they Know & do best...

secondly, I would look on that accumulation of wealth as 'Tribute'
or as the modern version of the ancient pantheon of god's...

Today's 'Shell' is an entity, a god in it's own right....
& Shell must amass wealth to increase it's power and reach to combat/parry the other god's of Energy (think Haliburton, EXxon, Occidental, BP, etc)
and their own nefarious tactics of resource/energy sequestering.

~all hail to the multinational energy 'gods' who give us modern conviences and a higher standard of living,,,for a small piece of one's life energy~
