SOUTHPORT, N.C. - Brunswick County residents who live within a 10-mile radius of a nuclear power plant can receive free pills next month to protect them against radiation.

County health officials say the potassium iodide pills will be available at five distribution points starting Jan. 14.

I also hope that they'll also be informed that taking those pills without being exposed to radiation (immediately or soon after taking them) will muck up their health for the rest of their lives...

...Kind of reminds me of the drugs that were distributed to our troops during Desert Storm. In many cases, the troops were *ordered* to take those drugs & were never actually exposed to chemical weapons...Which has permanently screwed up their health for the rest of their lives...
