Something else of importance in regards to Romney is that since 2010, his Super Pac, Free and Strong America, has given money to several people. These individuals used the money to win their own campaigns, and then have recently come out and endorsed Romney!

So, from my point of view, Romney played his cards very well. He essentially owns the media which would explain their adoration of him. And he's put money into a lot of hands to ensure endorsements.
This is truly the establishment vs. The People. Mitt Romney vs. Ron Paul.
