My instinctive reaction to this is that it is not real. The rotor arrangement is fine, it has been used by Kaman on many different designs so that is not the reason. My doubts centre on the fact that it is a wide flat body and therefore much of the downforce from the rotors goes directly onto the body itself, not helpful as not only is this lift lost, but the helo actually pushes itself down onto the ground.

This. couple with the fact that the tail geometry, general shape and even airframe colour are highly reminiscent of Thunderbird 2 from the old UK TV show and I would confidently predict that this is a completely fictional picture and is not under development at all.

I agree with you waynos. Does anyone know what's happening with Piasecki X-49 high-speed helicopter?? It is an interesting concept.
