On 12 Aug1951 a light was seen over Corong, New Mexico. It was in view to a person in the military for ten seconds as it descended at a 60 degree
angle towards the horizon. It changed color from white to orange to green during the time it was viewed.. There were no photos.
It seems logical from the small amount of information here that this was indeed a meteor.

This one page document does not reveal much.
With looking at the description I would believe that this was a meteor.
There is not much information of this incident on the internet.
Bluebookarchive.org got a page that covers the sightings between August and September 1951.
