I think that one of the most underrated conspiracies is that of the advertising industry. In many cases, they are the ones responsible for the cutting edge psychological studies.

It only makes sense. Advertisers want to gain clients by proving that their technique will influence the behaviour of the most consumers. So they do the research. And then they implement the results, while a large portion of the population is caught glazed over...looking at all the shinies...

Advertisers aren't bringing knives to the gunfight....
