Have you ever been to a wedding ceremony, where someone actually stood up and objected to the marriage?
What did they say? What was the reaction?
Was the person angry, mean, spiteful, trying to protect a friend/family member from a marriage they objected to?
I think I see the reason for this in the traditional vows, as a way to prevent bigomy, since one might not be able to easily research records, if any
existed. What other reasons might there be?
I had thoughts that my ex would interrupt my ceremony, saying, "Yes, I can't stand their happiness!!
