You know how they say you're never too old to learn something about yourself?
Well, I've heard it alot, and frankly whenever I heard someone going off on that tangent I turned into Charlie Brown. All I heard was Charlie Brown's teacher going "Whaaaa whahh whahhh whaaaaa.............." while I thought of sports, or music, or chicks and stuff..............

Today was different.

Look, I try to find the humor in everything. I can walk into a room of strangers, and leave with a bunch of new friends in an hour. I can always get a conversation going.
If my boss gives me a task, I meet, and usually beat expectations.
I put my loved ones first, and put myself last. Not complaining. It's how I was brought up. It's what a man is supposed to do. I don't think about it, just do it.

Today was different.

Someone very special in my life said 4 words to me.

I was doing my thing. I was on the phone while doing so - you know - Schmoozing, going through my checklist, finding my problem areas of the day, and devising effective solutions. Trying to set a time to pay off my Pizza bet with a co-worker (Son of a gun bet me a Pizza that The Giants would beat the Packers.......)......
I would pull my cell phone from my ear while I had these countless 30 second conversations.
She never complained about it. I would come back, and she would say "I'm still here." Every time.

I was getting calls, emails, and people coming in "Lombozo! We have a problem! What do we do?"

She never complained.

I got to my desk. She said 4 words to me.

"I'm proud of you."

I've only heard that a couple times in my life, and not for almost 2 decades.

I excused myself, and hung up.

I sat at my desk, hooked up my Ipod, and tackled my countless emails.

After about an hour I was so moved, I had to call her back. Four words. Four simple words. More valuable than any possession I have.

I called her back just to say thanks.

Let this be a lesson. The same lesson I learned today.
A kind word or 4 can make a difference.

Good to see you in better spirits, pal.

So that chattering I was hearing was my teeth and not my radiation detector. It's flippin' cold outside...

I found this quote below which I think sums up what it feels like to hear "those four little words".

“A kind word warms a man throughout three winters.”- Turkish Proverb

Good on ya, buddy!
