Ron Paul Blocked by Louisiana Republicans

xcurmudgeon.blogspot.com

As best we can tell, Ron Paul supporters enthusiastically attended the caucuses and voted for their delegates. Many Paul supporters, in web-posts, suggested that they had enough votes to win a majority of the delegates at their caucus sites. The Republican Party of Louisiana, however, reports that a slate of "uncommitted" delegates under the banner of "pro-life/pro-family" swept the caucuses in all congressional districts (subject to resolution of disputes over some provisional ballots) and will thus control which candidate gets support from Loosianans.

Here's what happened in a nutshell. On the day of the caucus, the Republican Party ran a "position" in place of a candidate. Voters had the choice to vote for a candidate or a slate of uncommitted delegates who would then choose a candidate on their behalf.... excluding Ron Paul of course.

The ballot they used has to be seen to be believed, Ron and Nancy's smiling faces urging all good Republicans to "win one for the Gipper" and vote pro-life/pro-family. Ron Paul's lifetime of delivering babies apparently doesn't qualify him for that..

Needless to say, most Republicans took one look at Jesus and Mary Ron and Nancy, and immediately signed away their right to choose their own candidate.
