FORT WORTH, Texas -- Nearly two weeks after UFOs were reported over Stephenville, the U.S. military has offered an explanation as to the source of the mysterious lights.

Maj. Karl Lewis, a spokesman for the 301st Fighter Wing at the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base, said in a news release that an "error was made regarding the reported training activity of military aircraft" and that "10 F-16s from the 457th Fighter Squadron were performing training operations in the Brownwood Military Operating Area."

Lewis had previously said there were no F-16s or other aircraft from the base in the area the night many of the sightings were reported.~ Artilce ~

So how is this an explanation?
While they were doing training operations did they happen to notice the mile long UFO?

The military needs to brush up on their lying techniques.

You don't make errors like that. How could they not know where a few million dollars worth of war fighting equipment went?

I totally agree with that statement.

Trying to insult the intelligence of ordinary folk in Texas is
downright disgusting. Saying nothing at all or denying
any involvement would have been more credible in my opinion.
This just looks like damage control to me.
But very bad damage control indeed.

How in the he!! can you mistake 10 F-16's for a mile long object ??

BTW, has anybody posted any video of it yet? Last time I checked
youtube, one hasn't been posted. As I want to see these 10 F-16's
for myself ...... LOL

You got that right!
They know exactly what was going on in the sky's that day.

Its more like:
"We lied to you last time and now we are prepared to revise our lie"

Same old tactics they have been using since Roswell.
"Its a UFO!"
"No wait it was actually a weather balloon".

I just watched it on CNN. Military reveals training exercise with the f-16's.

What a crock! Said it was an error was made in the reporting of training operations. So I guess that explains the f-16's,what about the huge freakin ufo!?

I just don't know where the government gets off lying to us about anything. Because they Either admit they investigate and that's a lie, or inadvertently disclose their own stupidity and mis handling of equipment. Which is IT?

Mr. Lewis needs to be brought up for court martial because not only has he proven dereliction of duty by not knowing he had 10 F-16's on a training exercise from 6 p.m. one evening to 4 a.m. the next morning, but he also has apparently abandoned his post for the past 2 weeks bein's nobody could find him for 14 days to let him know of his error.

Somebody get a rope.

Doesn't the military realize this just makes people more suspicious? To say that there were no jets in the area, and now to recount that by saying there was a major training exercise going on is ludicrous.

E.D. Hill just mentioned this on Fox News also.

This could be a cover-up of a UFO. Or the Military really may have had a top secret new aircraft test going on that they were hesitant to own up to until there was so much buzz about it.

When they were first asked they figured 'it's a small town, just deny it'. But when the media wouldn't leave it alone and it went international, they figured 10 fighter jets is admitting they had something there, but not letting out what it was.

It would have been better if they had not stated this, because then there is still no other possible explanation.

No doubt, its just pathetic.
I don't think they really care if its believable. They just want to go on record with a crapola story . Its called plausible deniability.

It all could be a distraction for the building of the Trans-Texas Corridor, your new super highway brought to you in part by foreign companies using the tax payers money. Say hello to the NAU everyone

Im in the Air Force, and let me tell you this is a huge crock of crap.

No way, one, would they not know that they had 10 jets out training, and two, 10 F-16's do not look like a UFO, nor could they be mistaken as one by anyone with half a brain.

They are loud, and definitely sound like jets.....10 of them in the sky at the same time would have been extremely loud.

Plus, I worked at a major F-16 base for 5 years, where they flew missions every day, and never were there 10 in the same place at the same time. They usually went out 2 or 4 at a time.

This is just fishy, and really is insulting to our intelligence. Im not saying that it really was a UFO, or claiming to know what happened, but it wasnt 10 F-16's.

Precisely. The irony is, the more ridiculous excuses the PTB come up with, the more palpably obvious it becomes that something, indeed, is definitely going on.

Personally, I'm well past asking myself the question "real or not real?", but rather, "are they ours...or theirs?".

I'm with William One Sac on this one.

If they wanted to say this, say it the first time. Now if this is indeed true, someone needs to be held accountable for not knowing what is going on with the equipment at all.

Strange stuff.

Ive been to many air shows and I live in a area where jets fly above every day. There is no mistaking fighter jets with silent mile long UFOs.

I am sure a mile long is a bit of an exaggeration. Half the people probably don't even know how many feet are a mile to begin with. From the videos its hard to really get an ideal on how large it was, but the videos show the opposite of what I have heard, which is a: Mile long ufo, Flying low to the ground, Moving very fast. The videos don't show none of this.
