100,000-year-old Human Skull Found

An almost complete human skull fossil that could date back 100,000 years was unearthed in Henan last month, Chinese archaeologists announced Tuesday.

"It is the greatest discovery in China after the Peking Man and Upper Cave Man skull fossils were found in Beijing early last century, and will shed light on a critical period of human evolution," said Shan Jixiang, director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage.

Interesting, how does all this tie into evolution and what the church says? 100,000 year old skull? Seems like this sort of thing does not comply with quite a few modern beliefs. Well I cannot wait to see what discoveries this will turn up as well as what else they will find.

yea sure go with cnn, read more of the lies and propaganda...sometimes the new sources that are not well known are reputable...i take it you still watch fox news?

actually i take that back, its all good but you have to get through the lies, mr. dobs is a really good person and so is caferty.

An important and interesting find. I would like to know what dating method was used. Also how about the timing? China is making a lot of news with the Olympics just around the corner. Sucks to be a porn sire operator in China right now!

They bagged a bunch of those guys recently to clean things up prior to the Olympics.

Wow now this is news . /me runs to see whats going on with this in the news .

Don't evolution say we had a change over around 50k years ago ?

Man i hope they can pull some dna from the teeth . I love the theory of evolution but to find were a cross bread of ancient human and chimp(or equivalent) would be just as amazing.

WOW! where did that come from? Please excuse me if I don't trust the "news" from the China Daily. Again, show me a report from a REPUTABLE news source (reuters, AP, etc.) and I will be excited. Until then this story is hogwash.

edit: I now see the Star is saying this is Reuters so I will enjoy this now.

I guess I just need more clarification. Are they talking about a human homo sapiens skull, or are they talking about some other human or hominid species? It would certainly be interesting if it was a properly-dated skull that could be classified as similar or nearly identical to a modern human's.

It wouldn't necessarily mean that modern humans have been around that long, of course. There have been a surprising number of human-like creatures evolve over the past few million years, including a few that we did not descend from. There's always room for more branches on the human family tree.

Provided, like I said, that the samples are verified.

etc etc......its not the fact that a 100,000 year old modern human skull has been found that interests me (as it is generally thought that 'we' have been around for 200,000 years as a species). what i find interesting is where it was found....this would mean that human movement across the globe occured earlier than previously thought.
