Tens of Thousands Cross Downed Gaza Wall

ap.google.com

RAFAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — Masked gunmen destroyed about two-thirds of the metal wall separating the Gaza Strip from Egypt in the town of Rafah and tens of thousands of Palestinians poured across the border to buy supplies made scarce by an Israeli blockade of the impoverished territory.

The gunmen began breaching the border wall dividing Rafah before dawn, according to witnesses and Hamas officials, who told The Associated Press that they had closed all but two of the gaps in the wall. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, said they were allowed free movement through the open gaps.

Thousands of Gazans began crossing into Egypt and returning with milk, cigarettes and plastic bottles of fuel, the Hamas officials and witnesses said.

An Associated Press reporter arrived after first light and saw that about two-thirds of the seven-mile-long wall at Rafah had been demolished. The reporter also saw the crowd of Palestinians crossing into Egypt swell into the tens of thousands

At last, the citizens of Gaza have taken direct action against the state-imposed blockade of their territories and streamed through the border-breach to Egypt.

The question is though, how will Egypt\'s turning a blind-eye and \'implied support\' for the Gazans be viewed by the US and Israel?

the key element is that the Palestinians ran from their Gaza Gulag,
spent money in Egypt, then returned to their homes with the needed supplies.
Just what condemnation could Israel or the U.S. level at Egypt?
guilty of commerce?

Now if Egypt allowed those fleeing their Gaza Gulg to resettle in Egypt as refugees... then some sort of humanitarian or political posturing -
(like - asserting that Egypt is harboring terrorists) would be the spin by
Israel & USA

hmmmm... cigarettes on the 'gotta have' list, on par with milk & fuel,

And what did they do when they got to Egypt? They bought cigarettes. What does that tell you.
Besides this is a common occurance, happened 3 or 4 times already since June. Egypt is the ones that always patch up the wall and secure it back up because they have to by treaty, but that is never reported. Nor the fact that other times the wall was breached the purpose was to bring in arms. They ran out of cigarettes this time though so they had to go to the store.

Thanks to the OP for getting this out. Here in the USA I've not seen it on the morning CNN coverage yet.

What is with remarks about the Gazans for wanting to buy a little luxury (cigarettes) along with other needed basic supplies of milk, food and fuel?

And after the supplies had been bought, they returned to their homes, as that is where they have a right to live and where their families and community is.

The Gazan Palestinians are a proud and defiant people and despite all the Human Rights violations visited upon them by the Israeli state for freely voting for who they wish for, for refusing to bow to degrading ghetto-life, for having the balls to fight back at an overwhelmingly superior aggressor, they would rather return home and endure those conditions than live in tent-towns in a no-man's-land as refugees.

Iran should seriously get some Russian made anti-tank rockets through Egypt.
At least the Palestinians can stop the bulldozers and merkavas causing havoc every day.

Stones and petrol bombs don’t penetrate through those things.

Iran should also send some bomb-makers through Egypt aswel.
I like those IEDs which absolutely toasts the tanks making it look like a burnt coal.

Israel will Back Off like it did during the Israel/Lebanon war as their air strikes will only kill loda civilians which the International community will condemn Big time.
Israel doesn’t wana be known openly for committing genocide.
