I guess my concern would be what about the people that are not able to defend/protect themselves? I am all for more lenient police, but I am afraid of the people that would take advantage of this. I wish we were able to police ourselves, but it seems like more and more, we don't want to have anything do with our neighbors let alone help them when they need it. I don't know where the line should be drawn anymore.
Just yesterday, some low-life jerk here in Omaha posted up in a parking lot with a high-powered rifle, and shot some completely innocent girl in the head as she picked up her food from a drive through restaurant. I can't imagine what we would do in a situation like that without a police force. I guess string him up in the town center, but that is also scary.

I have noticed while reading threads the last few days, quite a few people referring to police officers as "Pigs" and other such names. I don't wish to argue whether or not this is appropriate.
Instead, I pose a question to the people that view the police in this manner. It is obvious that you are unhappy with your local police department, or police officers in general. But my question is, do you wish that police officers did not exist? Do you maybe wish they operated in a different capacity?
I am just trying to understand the mentality. Do you wish for some kind of anarchy rule? Do you have any ideas how the law should be enforced by any different methods?
I am very curious what drives the anger towards Police Officers. I am not being judgemental, I couldn't care less what you call a certain professional, I am just curious.
