You are mixing the Rk-62 and Rk-95... galil and R5 are derived from machinery and bluebrints of the Rk-62 (and to a lesser extent Rk-76)

Rk-95 is much more recent developement and uses experience from Galil and R5 (alltough the choise of caliber is the venerable 7.62x39, but that is because extensive testing showed it to be the best available caliber in Finnish Terrain)

Hasn't anyone thought of the SR-47 yet??

I can't believe it! Ok. So the SR-47 is basically the M-16 and the AK-47 rolled into one. It was a rifle developed by the US for special forces, so that they could use "battlefield pickup" AK-47 mags in their accurate rifles. Only 7 are known to exist. Its the most accurate AK-47 clone in the world.

Yes Sr-47 has a good accuracy, but being hand made specialist tools it's not really comparable to mass produced ARs, i can show you a chinese type 56 that shoots 0,5MOA groups... after rebarreling and extensive gunsmithing...

Tell me when was the rifle designed?

The R5 were disgned from the Galil as i undestand, to make a more effective short range assault rifle!

Let me explain, we used the Fn Fal first the the Galil then Vector desighned the R5.

This was atleast say in 2000.

The reason i would say the R5 5.56 mm is the best is that its recoil is so good! and the damage the bullet makes is crazy it shreads your body when inpact!

As far as i know the R5 was first designed in mid 90's as was the Rk-95 and i've talked to some SAKO employees and they said there were some information used from the R5 program... probably not from the final product but from some prototype tests in exhcange for some tooling tips etc... But apart from caliber id say they are on par with each other... i prefer one you the other, both are exellent weapons.

I'd pick the SLR over both Rk-95 and R5 if i had to fight in a open terrain... but such terrain doesn't exist here and in short range combat the 7.62x39 has exellent terminal ballistics while it's still accurete out to 600m

reply to I vote for the AA12 the fully automatic shotgun. Doing a search on the internet would provide some great video of the gun in action. Additionally, the weapon was show on a segment of the History Channel's "Weapoinology" show.post by pinpoint sniper(1)

I think you have to take into account the newer variants of the M16/Ar15 family. Like the H&K 416 which adds reliability and fixes many of the reliability problems with the overheating and eventual expanding of the firing mechanisms that eventually cause jams. Also maybe the Tavor, the new Israeli AR that adds great accuracy to a weapon easily adaptable to close quarters situations, which obviously fits the Israeli needs perfectly. The An-94 is also nice with its 2 round burst option. It's really hard to choose the best assault rifle because of the way they are designed. And that is to fit the needs of those using it, and to that degree most modern rifles developed over the last 10-15 years are all pretty damn good.

Well if you are talking numbers of people killed the AK-47. If you want the best new system IMHO the FN SCAR (Heavy) .308 Subguns like the MP5 and UMP are great for CQB stuff but the heavy hard hitting .308 and tough as hell SCAR is a BEAST. Add a Schmit Bender Short Dot and a AAC SCAR suppressor and you have the perfect killing machine. The new KAC STONER LMG is looking like a good one as well.

I would rather favor magpul masada rifle. The rifle is incorporating the best features of previous rifles. I would preferred it to be chambered for 6.8 spc round.

MASADA had a awesome name...But I think MAGPUL canned that project in favor of making millions on the new PMAG.

I like the TAR-21. It's accurate, versatile and lethal.

This is the CTAR-21 cabine version, for CQB.

This is the TAR-21 with grenade launcher.
BTW, they both are equipped with a holographic reflex sight.

FN P-90

With the military only rounds this has got to be the best assult weapon I have ever seen. It is small, compact, light wiegth and very accurate. The new 5.7 round cuts though armour like butter.

All in all the best made today, if cost is not an issue. They are a bit pricey, but not much more then a new M4

Being Mexican I would have to say that the FX-05 Xiuhcoatl(Fire Serpent) is the best. Only because my country is finally getting on the wagon and looking for ways to kill aswell. Sure it looks like a G-36, but its not, and this comes directly from H&K. Also it looks kind of cool... heres a pic....

Its got potential for coolness. Dont you think??

The best assault rifle is definitely....the one you bring to the party. No matter if its 7.62x39, .223, .308, 6.8SPC, whatever, if you can't hit squat with it you won't be playing for very long.

I can hit pie plates well beyond 100 meters all day with my old CETME, but its heavy and very loud. I would want it in a long-range scenario though, in case I need to reach out and touch somebody. Both of my AKs can hit pie plates to maybe 100 meters on the best day, but they're a breeze to shoot and I can make follow-up shots much quicker with the milder round. I'm bringing an AK to a shootout in dense woods, urban terrain, or other tight area since it points and carries so much easier.

The newer, sexier rifles get all the press these days. I'll admit I am very interested in acquiring an AR rifle in .260 caliber, but no matter what you're using its just a tool. The guy that consistently shoots and maintains an old beat-up AK47 will prevail over some dude with a showroom-new AR15 that sits in the gun safe all year.

Well it may be good, but i think i'd rather take the gun you copied it from the HK G36. Because i just trust german worksmanship over mexican one...

Wow, our military started to test new assault rifle [5,56mm] M21S for both army and police.

Battlefield complexity demands a weapon of great firing ability, functioning in hardest climate and ground conditions. The solution is 5.56mm M21S assault rifle. It was designed on the basis of famous Kalashnikov, having accuracy and precision of a sniper rifle and at the same time using grenade launcher.
