MADISON, N.J. - The federal commission investigating the Sept. 11 attacks will soon ask President Bush (news - web sites), former President Bill Clinton (news - web sites) and their vice presidents to testify in public about possible warnings they might have received from U.S. intelligence sources before the attacks.

However, Kean said their cooperation was crucial to the commission's work, so he hoped they would at least consent to private interviews with the panel.

Do you think that President Bush will comply with this request ? I see Former President Clinton cooperating, wondering if Mr. Bush will ?

Not if he doesn't have to. "National security interests" are a wonderful catch-all shirking manoeuvre.

Out of interest, what editing was done on the initial post here?

Update:

"Bush, Clinton Agree to Testify Privately to Panel Probing 9/11"
www.washingtonpost.com...

The crux of the whole 'testify' bit, objectively speaking, is will they be under "oath"?
