The former presidential candidate blasts John McCain, and gets an education about Barack Obama's religion.

The Texas billionaire, now 77, still has some scores to settle from the Vietnam era, and his timing is exquisite. Just days before the South Carolina GOP primary, he wants me to know that McCain "is the classic opportunist--he's always reaching for attention and glory. Other POWs won't even sit at the same table with him."

The Perot-McCain relationship goes back to McCain's five and a half years of captivity in Hanoi.
"After he came home, he walked with a limp, she [Carol McCain] walked with a limp. So he threw her over for a poster girl with big money from Arizona [Cindy McCain, his current wife] and the rest is history."

I've always been wary of McCain as a politician. He's a Republican with a lot of Democrat ideas.

Bill Richardson makes me nervous for the same reason. He's a Democrat with a lot of Republican ideas.

Now, there's nothing wrong with looking at the issues and breaking with the party line, but sometimes the pattern doesn't look exactly, shall we say, spontaneous.

I'm still undecided about candidates, but on the Republican side, there are a lot of candidates who could wear the Democrat mantle without too much trouble, so in this regard McCain doesn't really stand out.

But to get to the issue at hand, McCain is a genuine American hero. At no time in the past has anyone questioned his loyalty.

The POWs have been back for a long time and whatever bitterness might have been engendered when these men were in captivity should have been aired out by now.

McCain has been in politics long enough for the smear merchants to have had a field day with any and all of McCain's faults.

John McCain's father was an admiral at the time of John's capture and the North Vietnamese wanted to use him as a political pawn by repatriating him.

John McCain refused this special favor because of the impact it might have had on the other American POWs.

He spent six years in captivity and endured torture and solitary confinement because he didn't want special favors.

That says just about all I need to know about John McCain the veteran.

It says nothing at all about him politically, but it speaks volumes about his courage, conviction and his loyalty to his nation.

This smear campaign against McCain is totally bogus.

McCain might not be the man to lead the Republican party in the next election, but there's no doubt in my mind, after having looked at the case against him, that he is the hero we have always known him to be.

Hitler had courage, conviction and loyalty to his nation too.
That doesn't mean he was a great leader. Just makes him

I don't see any reason at all, however to compare McCain to Hitler.

Moreover, Hitler destroyed his nation because of his hubris and ideology of hate.

It is questionable whether Hitler ever put his nation before himself.

Oh! I see you're supporting Ron Paul.

McCain might not be the man to lead the Republican party in the next election, but there's no doubt in my mind, after having looked at the case against him, that he is the hero we have always known him to be.

That's my impression as well, which is precisely why I am wondering if perhaps Ross Perot is dusting off his "charts" and getting to spoil yet another election.

I agree with you about all the candidates and feel the Republicans of today are like yesterdays Liberals.
Everything has deviated from dead center that now the Left are becoming Socialists.

Both McCain and Paul are the nicest of the candidates but I really feel Presidential candidates MUST NOT possess a goody-two-shoes persona or any qualities of "niceness" whatsoever. The last Push-Over President we elected was Carter and look what resulted from that Administration.

But maybe this country needs another "NICE" Prez, maybe this would serve as a pre-cursor for our next Uncle Ron.

Nice to see Ross coming out, lol sarcasm. Ross is a good guy, and I admire him a bit too much right now because of his voting for Romney. Although, not the admired endorsement any candidate would want. McCain is an American hero, no doubt. But, that is not going to help you in the office. If McCain were a new senator and just barely started voting on things to change Washington he would be my choice.

But, he hasn't. He has been in the Senate (Congress?) for over 20 years and he hasn't molded and shaped this nation by his vote to one I am proud of. I could rant on and on, but, I won't.

I believe McCain is a brave and courageous man who endured one too many things for this nation. For that, I respect him. But, I see him not fit for office, be it at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue or in the Senate. Step aside Mr.McCain, get ready for newbies that 'really' want to change this great land.

Perot once again telling the truth. It's shameful that people didn't listen to him about NAFTA and what NAFTA would do to America, and we will fall into the same trap in regards to McCain... I wouldn't vote for McCain if you paid me to.
