I think its a dugong. Manatees have paddle shaped tails.

I'm pretty sure it's a manatee. Also known more commonly as a sea cow, or a Rosie O'Donnell.

They are known to inhabit Caribbean waters as well as the occasional talk show set.

edit: Ilahee is correct. This is a dugong, a close cousin of the Rosie O'Donnell.

Its probably the missing link between Dolphins and humans on the evoltionary scale
Dugong's are hunted here in Western Australia by the Aborigines for their meat and the Govt. turns a blind eye.

Yep, that's a dugong, and according to the show 'Manswers,' it's considered 'The Animal most like a Chick'. That's why sailors would see them as mermaids (or at least try to with some hard liquor) and end up having sex with them.

I thought the dugong were extinct. They got over hunted, by the russians.
The animal in the pictures is not a west indian manatee. the ends of their tail is round. This thing has points on the left and right tips of its tail.

No, that's the Stellar's sea cow - basically a 20-foot dugong that floated around eating the help forests of the north pacific.

These pictures are your normal run of the mill dugong
