Save the SS Independence!

This the last of the old cruise liners built in the U.S.

Once it is gone there are no more left. They are talking about sending it to the scap yard to be broke up. The sister ship to this one the S.S. constitution sunk in the pacific while it was being towed to China to be broken up. I'm so glad it sunk because it was a much better fate than being broken up.

You have to wonder why they couldn't do like they did to the Queen Mary in Long Beach California. They parked the thing permanently and opened it up hotels, mightclubs, office space, wedding chapels. As expensive as New York land is they could put it there and it would be a great place to go to right on the water front.
