Hello fellow ATS'ers,

Many of you here know the general situation and history of the Balkans and for those of you that do, you will understand the stupidity of the decision made, that I will outline below.

www.globalresearch.ca...

European diplomats said the United States and Germany have agreed to recognize Kosovo's independence and call on other countries to follow suit.

U.S. President George Bush and German Chancellor Angela Merkel were reportedly in agreement that the European Union should coordinate the recognition of independence of Serbia's mainly ethnic-Albanian Kosovo province immediately after a second round of Serbian presidential election Feb. 3, the International Herald Tribune said Friday.

Fearing Kosovo's independence declaration could strengthen and speed up similar moves in their own countries, a number of EU states, including Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia and Spain, are supporting Serbia and Russia in opposing an independent Kosovo.

But, a majority of EU states, led by Britain, Germany, France and Italy, are determined to recognize Kosovo independent of the Serbian government in Belgrade, EU diplomats said.

Is the US and Germany really serious about this?

why would they want independance for Kosovo, a tiny area not really worth anything without any natural resources to pillage and squander, other than to aggravate the Serb's and Russians.

But recognizing the independance of Kosovo will open a can of worms for other nations and surely start more conflict in the area. Spain will have to concede land to the Basque peoples, connected with terrorist acts in Spain for who knows how long.

Cyrpus would have to officially recognize the Turkish occupated North, which surely woiuld start trouble between the Greeks and the Turks again aswell as other nations who would be in the same boat.

My question to you ATS "Balkan afficionado's" is this, why would Germany and USA risk a move such as this, and for what reason and what future plans are they doing this for?

They surely would not be blindly recognizing Kosov's independance just for the sake of it would they?

Looking forward to all your thoughts

Hello Melbourne_Militia.

The same was last year. USA and their allies claimed and threaten that they will recognize Kosovo independence [actually they claimed they will start implementation of Ahtisari's plan] after elections for Parliament of Serbia [January 2007]. And what happened? Nothing. Now is the same story.
The latest news are that EU will not send yet [end of January was ‘original’ plan] mission of Kosovo, and just several weeks ago it was 100% sure.

Last three years every week there is some article how independence of Kosovo is unavoidable, how that is finished job, how Russia will again betray Serbia like was in 1999 [all those who claimed that now have new theories why Russia back up Serbia] that I am sick of that.

The fact is that Russia [and now obviously PR China] will veto any resolution in UN SC which would give Kosovo independence. Also some other members of UN SC like Indonesia [largest Muslim country] and South Africa are against it, too. In EU, whole process Cyprus is on Serbian side, and Greece, Romania and Slovakia by time to time, too [in reality they are totally against it, but are under heavy pressure]. The same can be said for Spain.

Who would invest in non-recognized by UN country ruled by criminals and terrorist?

Serbia will sign soon historical and strategic agreement with Russia and Gazprom.

I think it has a lot to do with the old throwback of sticking a thorn in the side of socialist countries. Now that the former Yugoslavia is a divided nation, the need for a satelite country under the control of the west (perhaps for a military base/naval port) in order to quell any potential social uprising. After all, when Yugoslavia was divided, the countries natural resources and industry (what remained after the war anyways) was divided up and sold at bargain prices to Multi-National Investors. Cant have some nationalist try and take over all those businesses and investments can we?

I thought Id post an updated news report on this subject from the Russian News Agency Novosti,

en.rian.ru...

Putin says Russia will not support independence for Kosovo

SOFIA, January 18 (RIA Novosti) - President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Russia will not support any "illegal and immoral" decision by Kosovo to declare unilateral independence.

Serbian President Boris Tadic, who attended the UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday, called upon the council to abide by its own resolutions and the United Nations Charter. UN Resolution 1244, adopted in 1999, reaffirmed the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to which Serbia is now the recognized successor state, and established that Kosovo was to remain part of Serbia.

Yep, I still think that this has the making of another big mess in Europe, setting a standard by which other provinces will declare their indepences aswell, causing more regional skirmishes around the EU.

A bit biased report from CNN, but anyway:
European stability at stake in Serb vote

# Story Highlights
# Serbia's voters will go to the polls again for presidential runoff on February 3
# Pro-Russia Tomislav Nikolic is challenging pro-Western incumbent Boris Tadic
# The outcome of the vote will have big impact on Balkans and rest of Europe
# Kosovo is expected to announce bid for independence after Serbian election

Black-white picture still dominate, sadly.

Most Serbs have been asked would you give away Kosovo for inclusion into the European Union, and majority said no. I got that off a multicultural news radio station here, so basically they are telling the EU to stick it, they dont need em.

The only reasononing I can think of why the EU ad USA want and are pushing for Kosovo independance is so that the US can have a base in Kosovo for the region and remove its troops from the other European countries.

Unless somebody else has a better theory, all in all, it dont really make sense.

Isnt anybody else here concerned about the possibility of a major war breaking out in Europe's backyard over the Kosovo issue?

My thinking is if Germany and USA are so adamant on supporting Kosovo's independance, then does that mean they will be so supportive about sending troops there aswell to back up their "vocal" support of them?

And if so, are they prepared to quite possibly end up having skirmishes with Russian Spetnatz forces sent there to support the Serbs?

It could and looks like will very easily expand to a major world war on many fronts.......why is the US continuing to push for war on every corner of the earth?

Is it so hard just to bring your troops home and worry about your own backyard and your own borders?

Hi Melbourne_Militia/
Great post and article!
I think this does call for majour concern for all, but sadly it seems that people either don't know enough of the situation at hand,or it could well mean that people hold confidence in what 'others' tell them of the situation.
In regards to war breaking out?
I guess, time will tell.
take care,

Its not that we are not concerned, its just a few other threads on this issue have popped up and its hard to carry on 3 conversations all relating to the same topic.

heres where I have been making my comments: www.abovetopsecret.com...

I was not really aware of a lot of the history surrounding the Kosovo situation so my natural inclination was to support the Kosovan right for self-determination.

However, after my participation in the thread which InSpiteOf has provided the link to, I have changed my mind.

It would indeed be opening a whole can of worms if we force the issue on this and would achieve nothing but more killing.

Serbia are being quite considerate in offering Kosovo the right to run themselves as an autonomous region within Serbia.

What agenda are the US and her allies persuing here?
Who benefits by the West forcing Serbia into a corner over this?

Yugoslavia, now Serbia had massive air base and facilities in Kosovo. That alone is worth billions. Need to built from scratch would cost arm and leg.
More importantly Yugoslavia was the only country resisting US-UN conquest of all Europe by integrating smaller and poorer countries into EU.
Main reason war in Yugoslavia started and later spred is because then Nazi run Germany declared unilaterally independent croatia and pushed UK and France in doing it so.
Years later Brits regreted it but Germany was at the time leading economy in Europe so it's clear.
Americas CIA developed and implemented old proven plan divide and conquer which was done relatively easy with backing with ultra nationals Tudjman, izmetbegovic and Milosevic each trying to grab as much as possible.
Yugoslavia is the most strategically placed country in Europe from where you can reach whole Europe, Russia, Middle East and control Mediterranean sea.
Don't forget natural resources in Kosovo estimated on over $120.000.000.000.
That's right. Silver, coper, zink , gold and others.
They raped whole country on false pretenses and supported albanian terrorist who were killing and terrorizing everyone including their own if they refused to join their ranks.
Remember staged bodies which sparked "humanitarian intervention".
List goes on.
If Kosovo gets independents what is to stop Latino Americans asking for independent Florida, Mexicans getting their territories just on principles based on huge population because they outnumbering Americans today by large margin.
Each family of albanians have between 8-11 kids where Serbs usually no more than 2. Over the period of 60 years and wrong Tito's policy they were treated better than Serbs and downfall began.
US went in to gain new ground for JWO (Jew World Order) and to be on Europe doorstep occupying very sensitive area.
US has 800+ bases in more than 170 countries!!!
Call me paranoid but isn't that called imperialism?
If Kosovo gets independents than UN can just dump all resolutions in a fire if they are not willing to implement them.

Some good point you make there Apolon,

It does seem that this is part of the EY agenda to geographically control the whole of Europe.

I will not pretend for a second to understand the extent of their plans and influence but as we can clearly see through their foreign and domestic policy it is vast!
They are always around the globe trying to install "democracy" all over the place regardless of we think of it and others make of it.
If you are good judge of character you should be able to judge person and get some kind of animal response just by looking and studying their face and gestures.
What you think enormous amount of money and influence can do to a human psyche combined with inborn cruelty. It is possible to judge someone just by studying their face.
Thin non existing lips, small mean eyes, lines around the eyes ...
What do you think of this person? Do you see shred of compassion, love, friendliness anywhere on that face?

shots.oxo.li...

These (lets call them people in the most diluted way) are running governments and implementing policies which would turn Hitler's stomach inside out.
It started with him and few others. The time has come to take everything away from them. Blood money made over millions of innocent people.
His inbred family is ruining not only individual countries but have their foxy eyes set on the whole world.
Good dark scenario for their kind of new world government was shown in the movie V for Vendetta.
We wouldn't like that, would we?!

That is correct. Serbia offered to Kosovo Albanians status of Hong Kong to Kosovo. They could be independent in everything exept in foreign affairs and military but because USA promised to them independence...

Great article in Washington Post
:

Warning light on Kosovo
By John Bolton, Lawrence Eagleburger and Peter Rodman
January 31, 2008

Some parts:

Current U.S. policy relies on the unconvincing claim that Kosovo is "unique" and would set no precedent for other troublespots. Of course every conflict has unique characteristics. However, ethnic and religious minorities in other countries already are signaling their intention to follow a Kosovo example. This includes sizeable Albanian communities in adjoining areas of southern Serbia, Montenegro, and especially the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, as well as the Serbian portion of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Recognition of Kosovo's independence without Serbia's consent would set a precedent with far-reaching and unpredictable consequences for many other regions of the world. The Kosovo model already has been cited by supporters of the Basque separatist movement in Spain and the Turkish-controlled area of northern Cyprus. Neither the Security Council nor any other international body has the power or authority to impose a change of any country's borders.

Perhaps the most troubling aspect of the current policy is the dismissive attitude displayed toward Russia's objections. Whatever disagreements the United States may have with Moscow on other issues, and there are many, the United States should not prompt an unnecessary crisis in U.S.-Russia relations. There are urgent matters regarding which the United States must work with Russia, including Iran's nuclear intentions and North Korea's nuclear capability. Such cooperation would be undercut by American action to neutralize Moscow's legitimate concerns regarding Kosovo.
...
Even if Kosovo declared itself an independent state, it would be a dysfunctional one and a ward of the international community for the indefinite future. Corruption and organized crime are rampant. The economy, aside from international largesse and criminal activities, is nonviable. Law enforcement, integrity of the courts, protection of persons and property, and other prerequisites for statehood are practically nonexistent. While these failures are often blamed on Kosovo's uncertain status, a unilateral declaration of independence recognized by some countries and rejected by many others would hardly remedy that fact.
...
A reassessment of America's Kosovo policy is long overdue. We hope a policy that would set a very dangerous international precedent can still be averted if that reassessment begins now. In the meantime, it is imperative that no unwarranted or hasty action be taken that would turn what is now a relatively small problem into a large one.

John Bolton is former permanent U.S. representative to the United Nations. Lawrence Eagleburger is former U.S. secretary of state. Peter Rodman is former assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs.

Should I say that largest Muslim country in the world (Indonesia) is against Kosovo independence?!

What we are seeing now is obvious attempt to divide and conquer yet again...
Unilateral decision to recognize extremist (terrorist KLA ) organization as a legal government is more than obvious attempt to start new low scale war and finish of the only Country which resisted Ottoman Empire for 500 years and later Germany twice in order to completely gain foothold in a Balkans.
This is unheard of that US of A which publicly declared war on a terrorism everywhere is still supporting terrorist elsewhere just for a gain of few People.
This is not gonna end peacefully because it's illegal, unconstitutional and sick to the extreme!
Now you can expect massive friction between Serbs, Albanians on one side and USA and Russia, China, India and Serbs on the other.
There will be veto on this unconstitutional independence in UN but the damage has been done. USA is looking for yet another war and is pushing it on several fronts.
Again in the Balkans which was started by CIA infiltration and tactics, Iran-israel, Iraq, Libya..
I think they are trying to chew more then can bite because they pissed of Russia now too and several other major players.
This is a pandemic. The zionist animals in the US Government have to get stopped. Enoughs is enough I think.
But it is primarily up to you good People in USA to do it rather then us trying to defend our own Country each time with massive losses. No one should be allowed to impose their way on anyone.
It is difficult for Americans to understand the concept of pure preservation because you were never directly attacked and exterminated like we were for centuries. Romans, Turks for 5 centuries, Austro-Hungary then Germany twice then Germany again with USA in '90's!!!
When will it end!? Ron Paul is THE only person in a Congress who understand complete luck of morality and luck of leadership in your Government.
As long as you are run by israel lobby you can say good bye to your freedom (as well as ours) and to your Dollar too.
Time for 180 degree change in a diplomacy otherwise I can see already nukes flying around within a next 2 years unless something changes drastically.
Evil can be stopped only by force obviously.

It's my opinion that the only reason the US stands behind this is to fuel another conflict for profit, just like Iraq (another illegal situation). The military industrial complex is a very powerful beast.
