Students in Pakistan slowly began to realize Monday that all internet access to is suddenly being blocked countrywide. Many students had been maintaining up to date blogs about the conditions in the country. Most of them are primarily anti-government blogs. Many of the blogs are focused on the recent changes in the Judiciary system.

LAHORE: Access to the domain - a blog hosting website which contains hundreds of blogs created by Pakistani students struggling for the restoration of the judiciary - was blocked across the country on Monday.

Students of various universities including the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), FAST-National University and the Punjab University (PU) were hosting their blogs on these websites to inform the world about the situation in the country.

Some of the most popular blogs created by Pakistani students are Rise Of Pakistan. (by LUMS students), (by LUMS students), FastRising. (by FAST students), PURevolution. (by PU students), EmergencyPK., and

Pro-judiciary blogs ‘blocked’

It didn't take them very long to figure a way around the IP block though.

Internet access to information and freedom of expression sure does cause problems for certain types of governments, doesn't it?

The more that word out of Pakistan gets blocked from reaching the outside world, the closer we get to a nuke going rogue. I heard US Presidential candidate John McCain call Pakistan the new Afghanistan today on CNN.
