After hearing the statements about the UFO being escorted by military planes. I wonder if it was a planed visit and the military was escorting the UFO to an undisclosed location.

Or......... maybe it was just a new military craft like the stealth blimp or something and that is why the military was escorting it...

I'm not going to jump to the conclusion that what the people of Stephenville saw was an Alien spacecraft unless I see a super close-up or clear video of the object.

I don't agree with Diplomat always, but I agree with this statement. We need all the facts to get to the picture. Diplomat is dead on that we need to know the story directly to know what we can derive from it.

What intrigues me is that some of the observers have essentially said that they would be surprised if it was a military craft. Now its a matter of getting an accurate, untainted recollection from them.

And, Chiiru, I think we agree that we need a repository of verified information, before all the hanger-on photos, reinterpretations, and second hand reports muddy the waters as to what was really going on. Some people have posted links to first sources throughout this thread. As it goes on, usually the staff of ATS does a good job of collecting the first sources in an organized way, like with the O'Hare deal.

I did, it was pretty interesting how he described it as a rotating cigar. I'm thinking it's a possibility it could be this stealth blimp thing that I'm always hearing about lately. Also, I think it's safe to say that if military helicopters were escorting this thing then it probably wasn't an Alien spacecraft. Sure, it's possible that military helicopters could escort an Alien spaceship, but it is probably the least likely explanation here. We just need more info. Too bad the truck driver's picture isn't zoomed in more or something.

I just read it. Amazing. Someone else saw it, that wasnt in stephenville. I heard it was goin west, so that kinda goes with the witnesses saying that. Nice picture. I hope this turns out to be a good lead.

I was wondering if anyone would point out the differences.

The truck driver said:
Source

"It was at least 300 yards wide. It was being escorted by some type of slow-moving military craft, maybe helicopters."

The majority of people said it was much larger. And now its being escorted by slow moving helicopters. I thought there were "fighter jets"?

"It was very intense, bright lights," said local newspaper reporter Angela Joyner.

I see no evidence of light at all in this cell phone photo (yeah I know its a bad photo but still)

Steve Allen, a 50-year-old pilot, was at a campfire with friends and says the object was a mile long and half a mile wide.

You can see in the cell phone photo that the craft... err bug blotch.. err UFO is not a mile long and half a mile wide.

Hmm, I think maybe what the truck driver saw was different from what the people in Stephenville saw...

Several of the witnesses saw the object leaving very quickly. A pilot that was a witness said he estimated that the object was traveling at over 3,000 miles an hour.

That's quite a speedy blimp, stealth or not.

Not to be argumentative, but it just doesn't seem like a blimp meets all the witnesses' observations.

I'm not saying this was alien, but I don't think it was a blimp either.

and several said they watched it outrun fighter jets, not hover with slow moving helicopters

And in this article the UFO is 300 feet off the ground!

Machinist Ricky Sorrells said friends made fun of him when he told them he saw a flat, metallic object hovering about 300 feet over a pasture behind his Dublin home.

The object in the cell phone photo is clearly more than 300 feet off the ground.

Im pretty sure the "fighter jets" wouldnt chase an object 300 feet off the ground.... especially when its hovering.

Oh but it wasn't hovering all the time:

Erath County Constable Lee Roy Gaitan said that he first saw red glowing lights and then white flashing lights moving fast, but that even with binoculars could not see the object to which the lights were attached.

But in the same friggin article one guy can see it has no bolts.

. He said he watched it through his rifle's telescopic lens and described it as very large and without seams, nuts or bolts.

So now we have people saying it was going fast, going slow, hovering, changing shape, 300 feet off the ground, chased by helicopters, jet fighters, an illusion created by sun off 2 airplanes even though one photo is taken before sunset in a drab sky... bah

This story stinks.

Exactly. So maybe we are looking at two different things here. Something that many people saw that was fast moving, huge, and being chased by jet aircraft, and something else that was slow moving, escorted possibly by helicopters, photographed by a passing truck driver.

Yes I did, even enlarged it with the usual loss of resolution. I can't tell what it is, but I agree it's not a mile long or half a mile wide.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the source article from my little tirade:

www.abcnews.go.com...
www.abcnews.go.com...

Just read both pages of that article and you will see what I mean. One person cannot track it in their binoculars, yet another watches it through a scope steady enough to see no bolts etc.

That would mean that the time frame this object could be seen for is longer than most would think.

And an object that large that close to the ground... it would cover an entire mile. You wouldn't even see the sky! Im pretty sure the population density of even a rural area is more than 1 per square mile.

WELL I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THAT IF WE CAN NOT TRUST WHAT WE SEE THEN HOW IS IT THAT WE CAN DO A JOB THAT REQUIRES SEEING WHAT WE ARE WORKING ON. Next time one of the [MAYBE]paid sceptics!! need a photo for proof after a dozon or more people have seen the same thing. He should really think about it before he or she go to the Dentist or have any surgery done.
I have seen UFO's Two different time and they were just as clear as the car sitting in my driveway. not a thousand feet away, and as most all of the photos I have seen all blurry and out of focus. what I have seen were in broad daylight no clouds no flashing lights and only 4or5 hundred feet from me.

I had thought that three different events were being described here:

1) The big one that the Constable saw and the Trucking company owner also saw

2) Another local saying that at an earlier time, he had seen a silver disk with 'no nuts or bolts' when he had looked at it through his site, and that he was now happy that other people in town saw something and would not disrespect him

3) A guy saw something flying over a lake and took a cell phone picture. I thought this one was on a different day than the Stephensville siting.

Are these people talking about seeing things on the same day? Maybe my memory is just getting to foggy here? I'll go back and read it all again.

[edit]:
Ack, you are right, both sighting 1 and 3 were on the 8th... my bad.

As you well know there are no clear photos of any Ufos, the photos are all blurry and out of focus. now i ask you this why is that?

#3 was in Austin, Texas over lake Travis on a diffferent day. At least that's my understanding.

I went and looked at some dates and I saw the following information:

The event seen by the trucking company owner and town constable was on the 8th. So was the cell phone picture event taken by a truck driver.

#2, Ricky Sorrells observation, he claims, was on multiple occasions. On one such occasion, he scoped it. He now feels less embarrassed because other people have seen things. source

The trucker sighting and the big UFO are on the same day. The lake sighting is on a different day (and in my opinion its was caused by taking a photo of direct sunlight with the digital camera).

At least one person claims to have seen an object several times. This is the man that got a good look at it through a scope. Now when and where he has seen it in the past and whether or not he seen the big one I don't know.
