By "party lanterns", weren't you referring to the UFO sighting in the UK last year, when the skeptics said they were party lanterns floating in formation and then disappeared at a high rate of speed? If so, sorry your quip was misinterpreted!

I agree, wear a tin foil hat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm kidding stellawayten, I hope you and daggerjack can make it and report back as we here in the frozen tundra will need some good reading over the weekend, because the 30-40 below zero windchills will be keeping this guy in the house all weekend, unless an emergency arises.

Same here, not that I would even see a ufo, it's so cloudy. It's going to be so cold, if they land on my front yard I'd be tempted to tell them to come back in May.

Sorry, totally off topic!

Do we have the pull to get donations ? Would be great to try and get a bunch of disposable cameras to pass out at that meeting . Even if there not the best . Most disposable cameras are actually reusable . And save the photo's in a digital format.

Would be nice to have atleast 20-30 to try and get to people spread around the area . If it happened again or anything like it there could be an increase in pictures.

Don't let the jerks and the ignorant get you down Stellawayten... I live in a town that makes Stephenville look like NYC.
The town I am in is less than 2,000 people.

The media and the "bloggers" who are making fun are insecure and ignorant. Ignorant because they assume anyone in a small town is either a redneck loon or a moron. I for one can testify that isn't so. Like I said, I live in a very small town and while I am not the brightest guy on Earth have managed to build an ethical, cutting edge business with two partners that does something GOOD for people and gives back to its users. Go figure...

The mentality of which we speak (the dweebs who think all small town folk are loons, etc...) is no different than the utterly stupid racist mentality IMHO.

These people are trying to describe what they saw and I think they are doing a pretty fine job of it based on what I've seen in the interviews.

I think this is a new photo.
Cick Here For Source Article And Photo

Truck driver Sean Kiel said he photographed an unidentified flying object with his cellphone as he drove along Interstate 20 near Cisco on Jan. 8. Cisco is about 45 miles northwest of Stephenville, where dozens of people have reported seeing UFOs.

"It looked like a meteor entering the atmosphere," said Kiel, who was driving from Louisville, Ky., to Brady. "It looked like a fireball. It had a long tail and it was extremely bright. And then the light seemed to dissipate and there was a dark object, right when the sun was going down.

"It was more like a big cigar with lights all over it that changed colors," he said. "It was at least 300 yards wide. It was being escorted by some type of slow-moving military craft, maybe helicopters."

Kiel said the object disappeared from his view, but reappeared as he turned south onto U.S. 183. It seemed to be rotating counterclockwise, he said, with the lights disappearing one by one on its left side while reappearing one by one on its right.

Great post!

I'm not surprised that a truck driver snapped a shot. I used to drive a truck and I know aside from most truckers having a personal camera/cellphone they all have a disposable camera in the truck at all times for accidents.

I used to use mine all the time and replace it with a new one when it was used up.

I'm probably repeating myself, but, I'd rather have the eyewitness testimony of 10 small town residents then one out of focus, easily scrutinized photo that everyone will try to rip apart anyway (and I AM NOT referring to the above photo).

I find eyewitness accounts very credible, if they havn't been hitting the bottle too hard, so I think that there will be alot to gain from the meeting on Saturday.

My only problem with witnesses from small towns is that it seems as if none of them possess a digital camera or camcorder. I know the pictures would probably be disputed anyway, but the first thing I would do if I saw something strange is take a picture of it with my camera phone.

You know what I was hoping would come out of this event?

Two separate people taking photographs from different areas showing the same object. That would have been amazing.

The chances of good evidence coming out of this is looking grim.... Unless a whopper is presented on Larry King.

By the way, think they will have some hardcore skeptic dude on Larry King? I bet they will.

Have always felt good about moving out of the big city 15 yrs. ago, 45 min. south of the Twin Cities, with 3500 of us enjoying safe and quiet streets, as well as a great view of the stars on a clear night.
Lots of great people in a small town, feel most who put small towners down just don't know what its like...

I wonder Why is credible a witness into a trial, to not say a dozen of them and why not into a situation like this one.
And Dulcimer you can bet that they will have some hardcore skeptic I hope just not be the same person like last time, because in this case we’ll all lock like a bunch of idiots.

Thought I would share a phone call I received from my mom yesterday......

She's in Abilene, TX doing some consulting work for a nearby hospital. She said she was outside her hotel patio and noticed something strange in the sky that caught her eye. At first she said it looked like an amber colored balloon just floating on the wind and then it caught the sun and it reflected light as if metallic. She said she watched it for a while and then (her words)...."I went inside because it scared me."

Now, I know you have no idea who my mother is or what kind of person she is but she is not the type of woman who gets scared over a balloon floating in the sky. She was an ER nurse for 30 years, seen all kinds of horror imaginable, was robbed and shot in the arm in South Florida and managed to calmly drive herself to the hospital.

I told her about all the wierdness going on in Texas and told her to keep a camera around.

After hearing the statements about the UFO being escorted by military planes. I wonder if it was a planed visit and the military was escorting the UFO to an undisclosed location.

As far as there being no pictures or film. I played around with my cell phone last night and timed myself getting the cell phone off my belt, dialed into film (and pics), focusing and filming or clicking. Now this was a controlled experiment in ideal conditions. Not good...not good at all.

If an object is only visible for 5-10 seconds…you are not going to be able to get your cell phone out of pocket, handbag or belt & take pictures or whatever in that amount of time. Now add in a bit of adrenaline… the results being some buck fever, shaky hands and not more than a bit of incredulity.

So here is the scenario, a bunch of good ol boys out in the country…having a few beers and just sitting around BS’ing…and up pops a gigantic UFO crossing the sky in a blaze of light. Just imagine their surprise…I say cell phones, cameras…. everything takes a back seat to those initial seconds of pure astonishment. By the time they realize they could have taken a pic or filmed it…the moment is gone. All they know is what they saw…and how the h*ll are they going to explain it.

People need to cut these guys some slack about no pics.
