I would suggest checking out The Badlees
They kick some major ass, and I'd be surprised if you have heard of them. Their early stuff was the best. You'd most likely have to check ebay for some of their cd's.
Badlees on ebay
River songs and Up There, Down Here are pretty damn good.

You can listen to samples in above link.

as far as *true* musicians and entertainers, i always thought billy joel was one top dude.

plays various instruments, sings, writes his own music.

no synthesised crap with weird robotic like voices and repetitive '___' trance music, no death metal guitar thrashing while screaming in some demonic voice...

just some damn good tunes + beats, with lyrics that make a lot of sense.

I agree, Billy Joel is up there in my top 5

Danny Carey- Drums
Paul Mccartney- bass (he is also an awesome piano and guitar player, but gets my vote for tops on the bass)
billy gibbons- guitar
Maynard James Keenan- vocals/ male
alison kraus-vocals/ female, and also violin, or fiddle I guess south of dixie.

I also like brad paisley-guitar
carter beauford- drums
buddy rich-drums
neil pert- drums
dennis chambers-drums
les claypool- bass

I am a drummer so i have alot of drummers that I admire, but the tops for me is danny carrey from tool. I saw them in concert and the guy just blew me away.

That guy is freaking badass. He has some of the best fingerpicking technique I've seen.

Master Kong Nay plays the Chapei.

They call him theKing of the Mekong Delta Bluesmen.

Which is both true and just a cool title.

Check him out here:

dc.metblogs.com...

My Khmer isn't good enough to understand him, but that absolutely doesn't matter.

This guy is just cool. And the Ray Charles glasses are real, too, 'cause he's as blind as a bat.

Kong Nay

edit to add:

A Swedish friend of mine swears by guitarist Janne Schaffer. (Same friend worships the ground Peter Green struts on).

This is the only video I've seen of the guy. True Axe God. Hell funny.
