who are you to place a label on the artist talent...YOU think he has no talent and YOU think the piece is not sellable.....all that means nothing.

it is worth something to someone out there, that is for sure....

what about the guy that covers things in cheese? pretty 'lame' for art eh?

you're another that are just crying about it cause it is jesus.
you know it and i know it. others in this thread know it...
you and others are trying to smack him down as far as his talent goes and again, just cause it is jesus....pretty sad really.

How exactly is it immature?

Is it that someone depicting an erection is immature?

Is it that a depiction of Jesus is immature?

Is it that the depiction of Jesus having an erection is immature?

Did Jesus ever have an erection?

This piece has people asking questions. Is it that people would question Jesus that is immature?

Once again, I have yet to hear an explanation as to why it's disrespectful, immature or garbage. It was easy enough for me to explain why the depiction of Jesus I posted was disrespectful, is it that hard for you to do the same?

And if I hear "If you don't get it, then there's no use explaining" one more time, I'm going to scream.

No "Yeah Right's
"
No "Puh-leez's"

Just an intelligent and articulate explanation of your feelings. That's all I've ever asked, and yet it's the one thing that has eluded this thread.

Maybe it's another event in the evil plot to keep the masses distracted while the PTB throw the elections?

Hey, it could happen!

Maybe the "artist" is working for a three-letter crew?

Good point. I wouldn't have Googled this artist's name (much less know he even exists) if it wasn't because of the media firestorm his latest exhibit (damnit... I can't put anything there that wouldn't be a sort of reference.... damn you goosdawg...) has caused. Turns out he does this sort of stuff all the time:

Terence Koh creates handmade books and zines, prints, photographs, sculptures, performances, and installations. Much of his diverse work involves queer, punk, and pornographic sensibilities.

From Wiki (has immodest self photo.. almost)

I couldn't care less if someone made a statue of me with a boner, or anyone else with a boner. I mean come on guys... It's just a statue.
Thou shalt not worship false idols was one of the commandments too wasn't it?
Take a break from this crap and realise that a statue of jesus isn't really jesus.

Blaine...who says that the point of the artist is to make his art something that is sellable. Do you know how many artists do not get there work sold publicly? A lot of them, and they still keep making new art. Their art is an expression of them. Whether you or I agree doesn't matter.

That picture of Jesus with the thumbs up is the best one I have ever seen. Jesus must have been the coolest guy to hang out with. So laid back and loving. I think that is the perfect depiction of Him. Way to go!!!

Thanks Boondock for checking out Terence a bit. Might be out there a bit, but an artist nonetheless.

Yeah, awesome movie! For those of you who haven't seen it, here's the scene where 'Cardinal Glick' unveils 'Buddy Christ' in his 'Catholicism WOW' campaign --

Whatever else you may think about the whole movie (for those of you who didn't watch it or refuse to watch it because you've decided to boycott it), the "Cardinal" makes a pretty good point in this scene (nothing bad, I promise you Christians).

Yeah.. anyway... carry on with the topic.

Should Christians start burning flags of England, call for the death of the artist, etc... like muslims did over cartoons of muhammed?

After reading this thread, I have decided... to become an artist ... that creates controversial artworks. Perhaps something that will rile certain group of people.
And you are not to judge whether it's an art or not, or whether I have talent or not. It's my art!
I could make a lot of money out of this.

I LOVE IT!!!!!! I saw the movie when it first came out but been awhile. Didn't remember that part. Thanks for the reminder. BTW, George Carlin's take on religion is superb. It is in his stand up act. That I would recommend!!

Looking for updates on Terence's statue exhibit and haven't found anything yet. Wouldn't be surprised if we do not hear anything else.

If they don't like the statue then they shouldn't look at it.

You are proving my point for me with that notion of yours. Most artists do not set out to make a piece so it makes a ton of money. Art comes from the heart of the person creating it, whether it pisses people of or everyone falls in love with it and it becomes an iconic piece. Besides most art doesn't become famous until you die, so good luck with your venture!!!

I would have to say, that is a good idea.
Weird how that works isn't it? unless you get discussions like this about your work, then you are just famous without the money.
