He published a paper with massive racist comments. Even if he didn't write them (which if he didn't he should give up the guy who did so that he can explain) he still supported them by giving them a venue in which to go on racist tirades. FOR YEARS

Besides, you'd expect by now the guy who did write them (if not Paul himself) would come forward knowing the damage it's doing to his campaign.

Its amazing. As I said in the thread about Ron paul keeping a neo nazi's donation, he had jumped the shark.

Now as more and more of his back story gets filled in, the man of the people becomes less and savory.

While his hard core base continues to throw out terms like "hit piece" and "smear campaign" the reality of the situation is that he is NOT the guy he seems and more digging needs to be done. The money from the Stormfront founder seems to be hand in hand with the views expressed on his "newsletter'.

So I have to ask the hard core elite who to me seem to have the very same narrow mind and blinders on that they accuse us of.

What will it take for you to change your mind

Im beginning to wonder if this "man of the people act is simply a large money grab?

He saw that he was getting some of the black vote and spun around so quick he nearly snapped his neck. He's a politician.

This is getting ridiculous.

So Ron Paul is now a "Nazi hate monger" because of a few articles he didn't write about ten years ago and a $500 personal donation from a man affiliated with a white nationalist organization? No one says a word when Hillary is funded by evil corporations or when the President receives expensive gifts from Iran.

There is no proof Paul wrote or endorsed these articles.

There is no hard evidence for past racism on Paul's part.

No one noticed these articles until now??? If Ron Paul was such a hard core racist secessionist then I find it hard to believe that he hid it so well. The fact that everyone will vilify Paul based on an article and a few blog posts really says something about the power of the internet.

Show me proof that Paul wrote these articles or that he endorsed them or show me hard evidence of past racism on his part and I will change my mind. Until then I'd like to think for myself thank you.

His name was on them.

When Viagra puts their name on a stock car they're endorsing it, even though they're not driving the car.

When Nike put Air Jordan's on MJ's feet they endorsed him, even though they didn't dunk the ball.

I think Ron Paul is a rather naive fellow who let people he thought shared his ideals write his newsletter, and didn't think to check what they were writing. I do not think he is some kind of stealth Nazi

Looking at his voting record and his public statements, it's quite hard to believe they are coming from the same person that wrote the newsletters. Not only the racist ideology, but the rabid tone of the newsletters makes it fairly obvious they are coming from someone else's mouth.

HE didn't publish crap. If you were more familiar with researching than gossiping you would have found for yourself RP DID NOT PUBLISH those papers. They were published in his name, when he was practicing medicine full time and away from congress.

It went unnoticed even to him until someone found it right in time for elections as they have yet again. You have CRIMINALS running for office and this is all they have on Ron Paul so they use it. One seed planted years ago by the same type of person who hated his views of freedom then has used it once again. I love it because it makes them look worst than Ron. No matter what your views people agree that freedom is popular and once all the dumb people wake up we can move forward. Elect the Founding Father or your internet will be taxed and filter by 2009. WAKE UP!!!

The problem there is that Ron Paul has stated that he didn't intentionally endorse these views. Heck, he even repudiated them and explained how racism is a form of collectivism (something that goes against his deep libertarian values). The guy took responsibility for not paying attention to what went in the newsletter, if that is the biggest scandal associated with him he still has my vote.

Ron Paul had published several newsletters including the one in question during the late 80s and early 90s. He obviously did not write every article in every issue of every newsletter. When he left politics to continue his private practice of medicine he saw no problem with leaving the management and writing of his newsletters to others. Newsletters are a dime a dozen and often sport famous names, these newsletters are not always read by the people who's name is on them.

When he left politics certain people probably saw this as a great opportunity to essentially mask themselves in Ron Paul's name. He has admitted his responsibility in not having paid closer attention to what these newsletters published. He admitted publicly that he did not write these articles or read the newsletters.

He also said that these articles have come up before and seem to come up anytime it's convenient to his opponents.

I searched google and only came up with blog after blog reiterating what the mainstream media is shoveling out. No one can think for themselves anymore and no one feels the need to find evidence for their outrageous claims. "Racism" is a label that I sometimes personally see as a witch hunt. When there is nothing else to hold against someone a good allegation of racism will permanently smear anyone.

Thank you for the informative thought provoking post.

Anyhoo: The MSM is not having to do much here, most of the fodder is comming from Paul himself.

So his name just happened to be on that front of the newsletter in large font and bolded. But he is not part or party to the content therein?

What makes it worse, he accepted a donation from stormfront. Whether he wrote the newsletter or not, its not the point, it now sticks because of the campaign money he accepted.

In other words, he himself made the document truthful because of his actions.

Mr. Paul has taken responsibility for not having paid closer attention 10-15 years ago and has both repudiated the statements and has apologized. Is it really so out of the realm of possibility that these were published under his name but without his supervision?

Everything the Disney Corporation puts out carries both Walt Disney's name and signature yet the corporation is headed by Micheal Eisner. Micheal Eisner publishes under the Disney name because of it's market recognition. If Disney were to put out a movie that others deemed racist who's fault is it? Walt Disney or Micheal Eisner?

Why is everyone so adamant about slandering the only politician who's on our side, the side of the people?????

He has already explained that he did not keep an eye on the newsletter. He apologized and took responsibility for the words that went out under his name. What else do you want him to do.

If there is one thing I fault Ron Paul on it is his belief that other people are competent. This includes the staffer who wrote those opinions, and the now shameful behavior of people who will not accept an apology from a genuine man simply because it suits their political ends.

Ron Paul accepted a $500 donation from the head of Stormfront. I believe it was a personal donation and not made on behalf of the Stormfront organization.

Why am I one of the only people who mentions the low amount the donation consisted of?

Why don't we better spend out time by reviewing the millions in donations both Hillary and Obama receive from pharma, oil, and military corporations to name a few??

A $500 donation does not mean that Ron Paul will be called upon once elected to kow tow to the wishes of Stormfront, it's million dollar donations from corporations that buy politicians.

At what point does it just become another politico trying to spin his way out of everything? While I know that most of this is being dismissed by his core supporters as a smear campaign etc. but the reality of this matter is that this stuff is adding up and its not painting a favorible picture of him.

I am beginning to beleive that he had found a way to tap into a few themes that resonate with peopel and this is simply a way to enrich his political war chest.

I campaigned for Perot when he ran and he ahd some loyal supporters but the people supporting Paul are pretty dedicated. But......

At what point do you question your support of him? The donation from the neo Nazi?, I understand how he trying to spin it but the newsletter that smacks of something you might see on the Neo nazi's Whats next?

You are ignoring the explanation he gave about the newsletter. They were NOT his views. Did you hear his explanation about the StormFront donation. Why would he give 500 dollars back to a man with such dangerous ideas? Think of the damage a Nazi can do with 500 big ones (ammo, guns, so on). There is no safer place for the money of fascists then in the pocket of Ron Paul.

Yeah, who use to be the head of the KKK (It's documented and Black is proud of it). It's just as worse, probably even more.

I do campaign work for a political party in the UK, let me give you some advice: Don't make allegations and criticisms at other candidates if you cannot handle it being done to your man/girl.

Ron Paul is nothing special. Regular politician with skeletons in the closet. Get over it and deal with it. Don't try and claim the moral high ground.
