I'd love a pair of those Tata's in my garage.
They're simply Bodacious!!

I'd have to take back roads to work, but thats doable for me.

LRs are already "Made in China."

I'm talking about India ?? And also about ownership rather than assembly!

i am not insulting indian industry just the designers
were they blind of something?

Well, bodrul, that's a matter of individual perception! Being a hobby designer myself (not a professional one!!
) I personally think this is a work of art! The contours, aerodynamics and ergonomics are extremely well designed.

Where performance is concerned, yes, there are warts as is inevitable in such a small, cheap package. But one cannot compare this to the SUVs as it isn't designed to be one. The speed and acceleration needs much to be desired, but who needs speed on city roads? Now try racing a Ferrari with a Nano on Bombay's roads. No prizes for guessing who'll come up trumps!!

Heh...

What the quotes mean is to say they're crap, trash, no intelligent Land Rover owner goes anywhere without a toolbox. The division is costing Ford too much money and that's why they're selling it to Tata.

This is a load of bull.

I cant speak of the Land Rovers in china but the land rovers that we get in the US are of excellent quality. My family has one, the 2002 model and it is simply brilliant. They have to be if people are expected to pay over $70,000 for them.
Its not just an excellent SUV, its the ultimate among Suv's. Any auto enthusiast will tell you this. Or you could take Jeremy Clarkson's word for it

i wonder how far my impala would get if i took the serpentine belt off of it. just saying...
you get what you pay for. as i said, for short little errands around town..a few miles here or there, this car would be perfect.

tons of people ride bikes where the primary and final drive is belt driven and they do just fine...
i fail to see the problem here.

maybe it's just me

Thats a very cheap little car. Amazingly cheap. With only 33 bhp and four people in it, that is gonna be painfully slow. I notice they don't give any of the usual speed performance details.

0-60 in......? I'd be surprised if it even gets to 60 when you got four people in that car.

I hope they get round to exporting this car worldwide and a review on UK's Top Gear TV show would be great.

Nobody in the west would buy a car made in india due to simple racism.

Also the neds/lowlifes in the west would steal/vandalize it and set it on fire, again due to racism.

Your neighbours would laugh at you and hate you for buying a foreign made cars and making Americans unemployed.

Aw shucks!! All those toys you showed are two seaters! But the Nano is a four seater. Four seater? Hell's bells! With this I can't give no excuses for not taking my mother-in-law with my girlfriend to Pizza Hut!! Oh woe! :bnghd:

I. for one thank you, Mikesingh, for bringing this little car to our attention. Once again, Well Done!
Was I imagining things, or did I just read in your OP that the lil car woul pass all safety standard and emission tests. Sounds to me like India was thinking outside the box.

The only car shorter than this to have successfully passed the Euro NCAP crash test is Mercedes-Benz's wildly expensive-to-build 8ft 2in (2,489mm) Smart car, which sells at £6,900. Former Ford chief engineer Richard Parry Jones once suggested that the 11ft 10.5in (3,620mm) Ford Ka was about the shortest car he could imagine having sufficient front-end crash safety for the European market.
www.telegraph.co.uk.../motoring/2008/01/12/mftat112.xml

But that's changed now. This little bug of a vehicle has passed the ENCAP crash tests with flying colors!

Cheers!

This will surely change the way india commutes...
i personally feel the design is cool... If you talk abt Maruti 800 it has very less leg and head space... nano pics shows it has good...

with years Tata will be able to develop this car...
Ratan Tata did fullfil his promise
Chears to Tata

Riiiight. That's why Ford is getting rid of the junk: they're the Ultimate SUV.

You still don't seem to be grasping the China joke... not surprising.
Your parents probably don't carry a tool box.

Tata can have them. Their price tag might actually reflect the quality.

Why is it the racists are almost always the first to cry racism? But I agree... screw any warranty. At that price I'd buy one outright.

Getting rid of them? Are you daft ?
They would love to keep it but they need the cash because their own brand was doing terribly.

The price for a 2007 Range Rover is $77,650 plus taxes plus insurance. Its more expensive than a Mercedes M-class. Get a clue.
