My first ever experience of witnessing a Christian be persecuted.

Nearly thirty years ago I worked in a factory doing an apprenticeship,a rough environment of hard rough guys I fitted perfectly,a little guy started work with us who was seen as likable and harmless by all who was out of the norm to the rest of us,after a year or so something changed in him,the rumors were he had become a bible basher, the workshop atmosphere changed toward him immediately, except another and myself who remained friendly toward him.

He was ridiculed slandered provoked accused, screamed at by huge men compared to him and also by the boss who took a sudden dislike toward him for no apparent reason at all other than having a inner glow,he didn`t preach or bible bash and he was confused why people had suddenly turned on him.I was confused also by all of this because I was not a Christian at the time and saw that he had done nothing to deserve any of this.

This whole event lasted only a month or two before he was sacked because it was obvious they wanted him gone since becoming a Christian.
This was one of the many many things I saw and witnessed which brought me to ask God into my own life.

So persecution is horrible when its being done to you specifically but its fantastic as a witness for God and let it be seen by those who have eye`s and ear`s.
Its harder to recognize and to see in text but its here in text also.

As I said this was only the first time and I`m telling it because I viewed this before I was a Christian, let alone what I have been through and witnessed since.

I don't know any preachers who call people those names, except maybe that church from Kansas.
There's things that I don't want to hear when I walk down the street.
But, I'm tolerant enough to let people be people, without telling them to turn their radios down or quit talking on their cell phones too loud.
It's Free speech!

Of course I can't argue your personal experience, but I'll give you my take on what I *think* may be the case.

Most instances were most likely not because they were Christian, but because they were 'in your face' Christian.

A christian physically assaulted and his leg broken.
-the same happens to people of all religions. Was it just a happenstance that he was Christian?

I wish you'd been there to have seen this. Prior to the outreach there was a prophetic utterance that there would be persecution that day and that we should take heart that the Lord was with us. More specifically the person who would receive the brunt of it was identified. He was a dear, older man in the Lord and a WWII vet. We were just handing out tracts, a time honored American tradition, but I suppose in your eyes it's a heinous affront. A drunk decided to attack the vet for no reason and pushed him down breaking his leg. That was the vet.s last outreach and sadly he died a few weeks later (but that's another story).

Rocks and bottles thrown at christians.
-Where were they gathered together en mass to receive this pummelling? What were they doing?

They were playing amplified music and they had sound permits. They were pretty good too, but some didn't like the christian worship.

Expensive sound equipment stolen by force out of their hands.
-And what were they doing with the sound equipment? Recording an event? Asking inappropriate questions?

Yeah that asking inappropriate questions just must be snuffed out in America. We should create a cadre of storm troopers to address that problem. However, for your information, they were performing permitted activities. Playing music, preaching the gospel and handing out tracts. I understand thought that most feel that free speech is only granted if the speech is not controversial and has cultural 'approval'.

Christians arrested and thrown in jail.
-Again, what were they doing at the time of the arrest?

They were preaching the gospel, handing out tracts and singing. Pretty nasty stuff isn't it? Telling people that Jesus loves you should call out the swat team every time.

I find it interesting all the excuses that the god haters give for why it's a good thing that christians are arrested or their first amendment rights should be denied.

Oh, imagine that, a Christian news site has an article claiming Christians are persecuted.

So is everybody else, somewhere.

I tell you this, though: atheists and other nonbelievers already suffer persecution in the form of censorship and discrimination in the US (by Christians), so why should the Christians be any different? A couple from New Jersey were just denied an adoption application because they don't worship the Christian god -- THAT is discrimination and persecution. People on a forum saying that we've had enough of Christian hypocrisy and delusion isn't the same thing at all.

What goes around comes around. If I were a pagan, I'd say it was the law of attraction -- what you give is what you get. And may it come back threefold.

Not that I believe in any of that stuff, either.

Whoah!!

How did MM get banned?

I'm betting it had something to do with being outspoken against religion. Is this an example of Atheists being persecuted on ATS?

That's right it's no surpise, relevant to the christian experience and the absolute truth.

So is everybody else, somewhere.

Perhaps but not to the extent christians are, nor do I wish such persecution on other groups.

Seems to me atheists are honored as heros by the media and their books sell well amongst the god haters.

Now this stretches my credulity. Prove it, and what is the context of the case? Was the couple satan worshippers and pro-pedophilia? We just don't know the context.

Since all genuine christians have done is help people, with mercy hospitals, aid to the poor, aid to the homeless etc. etc., may what you say come true.

Christians being heckled by atheists, pagans, drug addicts and street people.

What goes around comes around.
A friend of mine had the misfortune of having the bookstore he owned burned to the ground by gangs of bible-thumping christian thugs because such bookstore contaned "satanic, occult, cultist, atheist, pagan" books.
Any you know what? He's even more anti-Christian than me. He has a gun at home, for the express use of shooting the first Xtian bastard to break into his house. I don't blame him.

Most of the recent mass slaughter events, such as Columbine, various church invasions, Amish school house invasions and even to some extent the Va Tech. shootings were attacks aimed at christians. These people were largely demon possessed, and the demonization was probably made possible by psychiatric drugs.

How about the legions of young freethinkers who were incarcerated in mental institutions (mostly in the 1950s to 1970s) for the "crime" of embarassing their family by choosing the wrong religion? (such as Zen Buddhism rather than the Church of England)

Were these freethinking martyrs "demon-possessed" by any chance?
Or were their parents and society demiurge-possessed?

I don't get it. Why don't the christians just go radical and retaliate? If you are getting persicuted why not persicute back? I know two wrongs can't make a right, but one wrong and one right can't be good either. If christians are willing to take this they should get more credit than they do.

The answer is simple. As Christians (footstep followers of Christ, not just proclaimed Christians) we literally walk in Christ's footsteps. He didn't retaliate and so neither do we. However, we do stand firm in our faith and will not be shaken. This world is currently under Satan's control, so, to seek approval, to retaliate or need credit from this world would align ourselves with Satan rather than God. We do not seek power, credit or attention, we only seek our heavenly Father's approval. That is more than enough, because we are not a part of this world and what awaits us is far better than anything this world has to offer.

That's pretty unusual. Most christians in the West are pretty passive, maybe too passive. Our technique was a little different with regards to satanic outposts such as an occult bookstore. We simply prayed against it. In this case it was a porn theater. After a year of prayer the city closed it down. Then later we prayed against a head shop run by satanists. The owner cursed our ministry leader and he suffered through many trials. Eventually though he was blessed and the owner of the head shop was arrested on drug and prostitution charges. All through the power of prayer. We don't need to actually light the match, God takes care of the details.

Against a bookstore owner who followed the law to the letter, harmed no one, and was (at least IMO) an upstanding citizen? BTW, that person moved to Japan last year. He said that Japan would be safer.

In other words, you used sorcery. Good for you.

Methinks he fell by his own stupidity. While I have nothing against head shops or other forms of small business, many of their proprietors are not the brightest bulbs, and often burned out by their own drugs.

Invoking the power of gods is an ancient pagan magickal technique. Just wait ... we'll make a true pagan out of you yet!

i just happened to click a link to a christian ministry called SUPERNATURAL

see: sidroth.org...

as i looked on the listed presentations & presenters, all of whom have vision or other religious/supernatural revelation.
i could see a connection with all these guest speakers...

like Elmer Gantry they were all well coiffed, wearing expensive attire, were individually all 'plump', semi-bloated specimens..
i suppose they are all ;christian' adherents to the 'Wealth Gospel' made conspicuous by the infamous Bakkers of the not so recent past

these parading clowns are an embarrassment to any deep felt Spirituality of any Faith

no wonder Christians are targeted... they all appear to be elites who only 'sweat' when the AC malfunctions.....
heck the cannibals gobbled up these fattened up human cows in their missionary compounds... the Muslim fighters invading Syria are beheading the Christians as a continuation of that persecution of overindulged, fat cat, Christians even if the ones they encounter are only subsistance christians because the Muslims likely think if we don't slaughter then now, they will eventually resemble the christians that clog the communications sphere with their outsized zeal

keep a low profile, unless you too want to become fodder or compost for fundamentalist radical Muslims
of course stripped of your Rolex watches & imported suits/shoes
