what if no one votes in a presidential election?

Here is a silly, but very serious, question that I have been wondering: What if no one votes in a presidential election? Are there protocols in place for an event like this? If there are protocols in place, such as, for example, a winner being selected, then is this proof that winners of presidential races, even if the people of the country votes, can merely be chosen? If this hypothetical situation has never been addressed by the people who made/make rules that concern such topics as presidential election procedures, then, for me at least, this is proof that a person can simply be chosen as a winner of a presidential election without the consent of the people.

I think first of all that this is a completely impossible scenario. There are too many people here, who like myself, will vote in every election big and small every cycle no matter what. I take pride in my ability to vote and will never neglect that privilege, and I know there are thousands of others out there who feel the same way.

Now, for arguments sake, let's put our imagination hats on and say that perhaps this did happen. What would we do then?

Well the most likely scenario is just that the electoral college would be given a chance to vote. The winner would then be announced from that. Considering that is their most basic and original duty, it shouldn't really come as a surprise.

But as I said, this is something that we will never, ever be confronted with here in America. (At least as long as we aren't' converted into some sort of new age Socialist state under Hillary)

I may be wrong here but I think
the Supreme Court Judges of 9 would vote a consensus
of candidates, the most votes would take the oath of office
if all 9 judges voted for a different candidate, then the highest
ranking judge's candidate would take the oath

however none are a likely scenario

unless nobody was alive due to nuclear fallout
which in that case who the he!! cares who sits
in the charred oval office??

and if you were the only living survivor of the nuclear
holocaust (I am Legend) then you can be president
with no opposition
