Republicans Vote to Impeach Dick Cheney

rinf.com

In what may be the biggest political news of the century a sitting vice-president may be impeached at the hands of his own party. In a stunning reversal today House Republicans have broken with the President and have voted to impeach vice-president Dick Cheney. House Republicans have insisted that the resolution to impeach, sponsored by Dennis Kucinich, be debated on the floor of the House. The news has sent shockwaves across the country as the GOP faithful find their beleaguered party imploding before their very eyes. Under pressure from a deeply divided and angry base congressional Republicans have split with President Bush and Vice –President Cheney.

The timing is suspect given the voter fraud allegations.

Still... at least they're doing it the right way. Cheney first so Pelosi can't slither in.

The White House would not comment on the matter officially, but our sources indicate that the enraged Cheney tried to order the Air Force to drop napalm on the Capital building, only to be told that ‘..we don’t do that anymore.”

from the OP's link

At least Cheney didn't order the Air Force to nuke anyone. It's time for the men in the white coats to come take DC away and lock him up.

Well, it's too early for April Fool's. I can't find anymore mention of Republicans voting to impeach Cheney. Is this for real?

The original article's title is terribly misleading.

According to the Library of Congress:

H.RES.133 was introduced on 24 April 2007. It was referred to the House Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties on 04 May 2007. Kucinich reintroduced it as H.RES.799 on 06 November 2007 and it was referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary that same day.

Since the dates of their respective referrals, no major or minor actions have occurred in regards to either bill.

/tn.

EDIT: Cut last paragraph to one sentence. Rephrased.

A search on google for "impeach" shows up this article with the same title, "Republicans vote to impeach Dick Cheney!"

Google news index displays this source as Unconfirmed Sources (satire)

From an article dated 11/6/07:

blog.washingtonpost.com...

The House voted today to send a resolution considering the impeachment of Vice President Cheney to the Judiciary Committee, a move that embarrassed Democratic leaders who were forced into the parliamentary tactic to avoid a floor debate on impeachment.

Led by Rep. Dennis Kucinich, the long-shot anti-war candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, scores of Democrats were joined by scores of Republicans in initially supporting a Kucinich resolution that would have prompted a full debate on impeaching Cheney.

(see link for full article)

Man it sounds like it was really close to an open debate on the floor. The Chairman of the Judiciary Committee has no love lost for Cheney either.
