gun=roscoe???

i have looked around and all i can find on this is from the wictionary. it says roscoe is slang for gun which of course i know....why though? it did not say why..

anyone know where this came from?

I laughed myself silly tonight looking through the Urban dictionary.

For a laugh look up KY Treatment. What a hoot.

Boondock I've never heard a gun called a roscoe. But from now on I will use it in talking about guns, mine in particular.
