in '99 the serbs shot down an f117 stealth bomber, and it was big news at the time. heres the link to an usa today article

they also shot down an f16 during the same campaign.

so i think america would have a lot of problems if they took on a "real" military force.

... oh yeah, i almost forgot! when the serbs shot the f117 down, they said: "sorry, we didnt see it!"

The Serbs started having problems the moment the U.S. came in. The Kosovo Albanians were no match for the Serb's military. Hence why the Serbs left Kosovo after encountering a "real" military force.

Same thing during the Gulf War. Loss of aircraft are to be expected in wars when you need to get things done.

Why did they lose in Vietnam then?

They expected the "inferior races" to be easily defeated yet had to runaway after 5 years...

America has fewer and fewer aircraft as they are so expensive.

A analyst computed in 100 years America will have just 88 super duper aircraft costing $80 billion each.

Inferior races? Never expected the U.S. military go kill Vietnamese because of that.

Here are some reasons why the U.S. lost that war...

1. American people didn't support the war.

2. We didn't invade North Vietnam.

3. We allowed North Vietnam to invade South Vietnam and fought mostly defensively.

4. Politicians caring about votes and staying in power, hence why President Ford pulled troops out.

Remember what President Bush (41st) mentioned just prior to Gulf War in 91, that this would not be another Vietnam. He knows about the Vietnam Syndrome.

LOL

If you had the 2 million Chinese troops would have stepped in and over ran the USA troops and destroyed the USA presence completely.

1. American people didn't support the war.

Why should they?

No Vietnamese attacked America or Americans.
The trigger happy Americans started it.

No wonder everyone hates and despises Americans.

It was a politician's war.Let them go to the battlefield and fight.

I think you are misinterpreting what I meant about we didn't invade North Vietnam. The biggest mistake we made was fighting defensively while North Vietnam invaded South Vietnam. We should have invaded North Vietnam to regain the initiative. Similar to the Korean War. Heck we succeeded in Korea what we failed to do in Vietnam.

I had no idea Americans had any rights to invade any country 8000 miles away.

If the North Vietnamese want to invade, let them.

It was an artificial division anyway.

And the Chines would have stepped in if you had tried to invade North Vietnam.
