Hey I am fairly new around here and I am still getting the hang of everything. I was wondering what do the stars at the top of each post and reply
mean? Are they a rating system and if so how do you get more stars or give them to other people? I could be completely wrong here....

If you like what a poster has written, you star their post. That's all.
In some cases, it becomes about who agrees more, in some it's a popularity contest, but in most cases, each star was given because someone found the
post to be exceptionally good in one way or another.

And in the debates going on right now, if I'm not mistaken, it is scored by people giving stars to the posts they think are good. A difficult one,
because they can both look good and do it better than I did, so who to star?

If you find a post "applaud-worthy", you can give it a star.

It's just a pity you can't do it to your own. unless, you bribe someone.
Or in certain forums, for that matter.
