What I wish is that guys like Medic would do is stop trying to justify something you can't justify.

As a soldier, it's his duty. Justification doesn't help much, because in the end, you still have to do it. I am very pro-military, but it makes me sad to know some waste their time trying to make themselves feel better.

Technically, war is a complicated thing. But basically, it's quite simple. It's survival. Nothing to it. There's never any justification for war, because in the end, it's just you or your enemy.

You know what they say, "Shut up and do your job!"

Jakomo i totally agree with you, and please understand that i am not attacking you medic. I am glad you are doing what your goverment wants you to do, but there are millions of people on this planet that hate this war, and hate America for it. If America didn't have such a reputation for using poor countries for there minerals and putting then in great debt, than maybe it wouldn't be so harsh on you.

It seems like some of you guys are calling Medic dumb for joining the military, and disappointed when you think he's trying to justify the events in Iraq.

The US is needed there now because of what we have started, and have ended at the same time. But I don't think we should of EVER entered Iraq.

You people sound like a bunch of hot-shots, like you really know what you're talking about. oh, I'm sorry, you do? Well everyone thinks that they know everything behind of what they speak, but countless persons might make a weird face at you.

Since when was it dumb to join the military? You might say, since the US began a pre-emptive policy, or along those lines.
But since when was it dumb to not have a direction in life, or be so distracted that you don't fully appreciate all of your options?

I felt as though none of you supported peace or love towards one another and right now, so how can you be anti-war? I'm not especially loving myself but I hope I'm not especially critical.

I also find it very perplexing that you have Fight Club quotes in your signature. Fight Club is about anti-capatilism and anti-government, including your quotes. Yet at the same time you work for that same machine and support it...well...you don't exactly disagree with it anyway. That is one big contradiction and I think you're a bit confused, I think it's time you had a bit of a think...

Did it ever occur to you that maybe he just likes the movie?

Yes that's exactly what occured to me, that's why I was perplexed.

Requiem,

Good post. I totally agree with you. This is now our problem, and we SHOULD clean it up.

However, I think medic should seriously stop trying to justify it. He can't and never will be able to. He should just do his job.

Do you know who put that man in power for the last 40 years medic? The CIA!!!!!!(i.e. Bush senior) Why did they leave him in power for so long? Because it benefited them (i.e. The Iran War and getting rid of the commies). Don't get me wrong I support the troops and think you all are brave men. But your commander in chief is a coward and a liar. If we wanted to get Saddam out of power we had 40 years to do so. Why now you ask? I got three words for ya. New World Order

Well where I come from we put more faith in actions than words. So far the scroe is 1-0 for medic over you man.

I see NEO still has a hard on for this war.

Truth: The average soldier really cares about as much for Saddam's Caprture as he does the hair on a camels ass. Saddam's Capture has not boosted morale much, seeing how they are still getting blown up by roadside bombs.

Nope, nothing justifys this war, and NEO, the soldiers over there do not want to be there. The amount of suicides and morale problems encountered should tell you that. This is Vietnam 2. Every #ing day another American soldier gets blown to pieces by roadside bombs. Do you think they appreciate your support? No. Because they arent fighting a normal war: its gurilla warfare. Something that they cant fight back against.

If you really wanna support your troops, youll support thier hasty removal from that miserable stinking #hole of a country. Put Saddam back in power: The Iraqis need a dictator in charge. That is the nature of cultures that live with stone age ethics.

Iraq's "freedom" never has been, nor ever will be, worth the cost, both in lives, and finances, America has spent on it. Not oil currency, nor the removal of saddam, nor the lie of WMD was ever good reason to go there. America needs her soldiers here at home where they can do the job they signed on for: protecting America, not invading and becoming target practice for a bunch of morons who havent figured out the dark ages ended a few hundred years ago.

They are not protecting shit, there was no threat. They invaded without provocation and have killed thousands. They are hired killers for the government now, end of story. I have no sympathy for him, I wasn't dumb enough to join the military, and it wasn't out of laziness, just the simple fact that it is against everything I stand for.
If you want to go out to a strange country and get your arse blown off so that you can line some fat cats pockets, be my guest, but don't expect me to congratulate you or feel sorry for you.

Wow. Hey John, could you please show me where I asked for sympathy or congratulations? Oh wait I never did ask for those things. I find it hard to believe that you think Saddam was never a threat. Exactly how was he not a threat? I resent people saying "They weren't dumb enough to join the Army. So how was it dumb exactly? No one ever did back that claim up....

You need to learn to read. I wasn't responding to you, but zero deep. Hence his remark is quoted, not yours. Not everything is about you man, get over yourself.

As for your other questions, there's about a 1000 other thread answering those questions, but judging by your response here you've probably already found them and had trouble reading them.

Yeah, Id have to agree with Medic, John. Joining the military isnt dumb, other wise, I am an idiot too. But joining the military, then learning what is really going on behind the scenes, the real truth, then turning a blind eye too it, or supporting it, is evil. Medic will learn in time.

Medic simply hasnt learned the truth, Like ECK and myself have. Medic, sooner or later, during the course of your military career, chances are, you will discover why veterans like myself have become hateful and distrustful of the US govornment. Its a shame you have to learn the hard way. Id much rather you guys be back here on the home front defending our real borders from real threats than our military defending or "liberating" worthless #holes like the middle east.

I have been there already. Was in Saudi. I know what its like over there. Its a #hole. Wouldnt you rather be patroling America, the country you signed up to defend, her borders, from all the illegals and #heads sneaking in? Instead of stictching up your bretheren from roadside bombs set up by a bunch of raving morons who arent socially advanced enough for feudalism, let alone democracy?
