Besides the fact that they are the first 2 contest, is there anything else that make these 2 contest that important or is just media hype?

Nope. They are a public relations ploy on the part of the two parties. They have no real or official bearing on the election at all. None. They are used to program the voting population to support their (the parties) chosen candidates.

It's only one aspect of a hugely flawed and highly prejudicial electoral 'system'. No wonder we are in the mess we're in.

People are generally pretty stupid.

The candidates always figure if they take the first couple of primaries the rest of us stupid people will just figure the winning candidate must be the best one and follow suit. They stop thinking for themselves are begin to rally behind the perceived "winner" regardless of who it is. After all nobody wants to support a loser, right?

It's the same thing when one or two celebrities start wearing giant insectoid sunglasses and three days later every chick across the world is wearing these ugly as hell glasses that were god-awful 40 years ago, god-awful 20 years ago and god-awful today.

People are stupid, lost and just looking for somebody to tell them what to do and politicians are always counting on it.
