Quake Watch 2008

Sorry my prediction above is kind of vague. I have been checking the IRIS Seismic site, and started to notice that the earthquakes are coming in twos and fours, by that I mean that if an earthquake hits , like today a mag 5.1 in Honshu Japan at Long. 146 east and Lat. 38N, then one will hit on lat 38N , but on the US coast, and the mag will be similar. If this is true then a 5. or higher would be due to hit the east coast somewhere around northern California , or Reno, they are very close in lattitude. I am probably way off on my theory here, but I just started noticing it on the IRIS site. I held a business card up to the screen and matched up mag, lat and long. for several quakes in the last few weeks.

The above prediction by space cadet not too far off really, as I see it

Sorry Rabbit, like I said my prediction was vague, I was in a hurry to get it in before leaving work. I have tried to explain above though what I think I have picked up on as far as what looks like a pattern to me.

standeyo.com...

Check this map of Reno earthquakes-- he calls it an "unnatural grid". It's bizarre.

Even more bizarre, click on the "earthquake explosions" link.

What the?

Hey Kattraxx, hope you and your dogs are doing well tonight. I wanted you to see this site, it is talking about the strange cloud formations before an earthquake, do the ones you are seeing look anything likes these?

Yes, those are the same wave type clouds, a thick layer of them about 3 days ago. If the photos come out, I'll put them up.

Right now, I'm still trying to digest what I just saw on Stan Deyo's page. See the link in my previous post.

Thanks for your concern-- things are quiet, relatively speaking. All of this is getting pretty creepy though.

Did I mention that FEMA is doing a "mock earthquake drill" down in Carson City-- about 30 miles south of here? Weirder still.

And the press conference UNR seismologists were supposed to do never happened. I heard they said, well, we don't know anything; keep your guard up. Yeah thanks.

I can't help wondering what they'd planned to say and why it was cancelled.

The earthquake explosions, that is stranger than strange. It shows a clear exlposion like pattern, I have never seen anything like that. It looks like the entire area in the 'explosion' could be capable of just that, exploding! I am like the other poster who mentioned the Edgar Casey prediction, it is looking more and more like something big is on the brink. Are you sleeping outside? I think anyone in that area should at least until after the full moon on the 5th.

I had to take the tent down a couple days ago due to seriously high winds that were pulling the stakes out of the ground. So, unfortunately, I'll be sleeping inside tonight. If, I sleep at all. I'll put the tent back up tomorrow. It's not that cold at night now, maybe 45.

I know people who live in second story homes who have moved their beds downstairs near the doors. Everyone dreads going to bed at night because it's the worst when they hit at night.

This is an exerpt of the Edgar Casey prediction that worries me:

If there are greater activities in [the volcanoes] Vesuvius or Pelee, then the southern coast of California and the areas between Salt Lake and the southern portions of Nevada, we may expect, within the three months following same, inundation by the earthquakes. But these are to be more in the Southern than the Northern Hemisphere."

Ok, now check out this site, although these two are not active, look at the graph about halfway down the page, recent activity at 4 ancient volcanoes, not behaving as expected, the most recent eruption from either of these is 1883, the one in in Mexico hasn't been active since 7150 BC, check the dates on the others too. Something is defintately up.

Chile volcano erupts, villages evacuated

Authorities evacuated hundreds of people from villages in southern Chile Friday after a snowcapped volcano considered dormant for thousands of years erupted. The blast sent minor earthquakes rippling through the region.

The 1,200-meter (3,550-foot) Chaiten volcano belched fire and ash Thursday night, causing more than 60 small tremors in the Los Lagos region, 750 miles (1,200 kilometers) south of the capital, Santiago, the government's Emergency Bureau said.

In southern Peru, the Ubinas volcano shot out gases and ash twice on Friday, covering local homes and crops. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

This event has not yet been reviewed by a seismologist.
Magnitude 3.0 CENTRAL CALIFORNIA
Saturday, May 03, 2008 at 13:25:24 UTC

BTW -- Quake total on the World map is back over 300 now (307)

Since this thread is mentioning volcanic activity, I thought this article would be of interest as well.

news.aol.com...

Although this is in Chile, it has not had an eruption like this in about 10,000 years. The part I found very interesting is that even though it has been that long since the last time, the one volcanologist is saying that it's still considered to be a potentially active volcano.

Okay, soMay 2 there was a mag 4.6 , at 142 east, 42 north located near the west coast of Honshu Japan. Tonight there was a mag 4.6 , off the coast of Oregon, Longitude was 127W, Latitude was 42N. It is almost like a straight line between the two. This is the pattern I keep seeing. Both were the same magnitude, and both are located 42N Latitude.

Another one: Baffin Bay 05/3/2008 mag 4.6 at 61W Long, 75N Latitude

Arctic Ocean 05/03/2008 mag 4.6 at 122W, 75N Latitiude

Same day events, on the same Latitude, same magnitude, note that the Baffin Bay event was at 61w longitude, Arctic was at 122W Longitude, 2 times 61 is 122.

based on the theory I am presenting, I will make another prediction. A 4.6 will hit in Nevada, at 42 degrees latitude, within the next 24 hours, ending this prediction at 251 am est on 05/05/08.

That gives us a new meaning to "What goes around comes around"

Good job spotting that I guess the plate is rocking and bouncing off each opposite plate then or the Pacific plate is being squeezed by the others. Thats very interesting to say the least.

I would place my money on it being a solar flare or CME that causes the strange clouds and quakes. Money says we have a decent size flare right before the big quake. We had some a week ago.

The sun flares will also peak in 2012. The scientist have also found out that there were no sunspots at all during the little ice age. The sun with its spots and CMEs are the culprits behind the effects of global warming and it can be proved.

Yeah have you noticed how quiet it is everywhere else. Your area had a few small ones but I think thats just about it. Hopefully this is the end of it and not the calm before the storm.

Hey all, I hope my prediction is off, it could also be at the same latitude but west instead of east of the one I am comparing it to, that part I haven't figured out, (not that I have figured out anything, lol!) I noticed tonight on the US site that it seems they are begining to move closer to Reno, instead of being all bunched up on Verde-Mogul.
