US diplomat shot in Sudan attack

Early this morning an American officer with the US Agency for International Development was shot and wounded," Walter Braunohler, public affairs officer at the US Embassy in Khartoum, told Associated Press.

"A locally-employed Sudanese national was killed in the same incident."

Sudan's director of police, Mohammed Najib, issued a statement saying the US diplomat was injured in the neck and chest, and had been taken to hospital.
