i mean, you need to be equal opportunity here, when you call one religion bad you have to look at all the others with the same discerning eye.

islam is violent
so is christianity. in fact, the bible has more violence in it than the koran (granted, that's more a matter of the bible being longer)

That's a tangent and doesn't change the effect of the subject. If I said Charles Manson was evil would you refute that with "Hitler murdered more people"? You point is off-topic and does nothing to refute the claims of the site in question.

There's nothing wrong with having strong opinions on a subject if you can back them up with proper evidence. Mother's Against Drunk Driving cite one news article after another about how drunks kill innocent people. Is that just a drunk bashing site?

These are common tactics to divert and deflect the conversation away from the topic. Nice try, but I'm not buying it. Does the site in question post false information?

I'm not an expert but I'll say that I haven't seen any. It's definately one sided, but I haven't seen anything false. It gathers evidence and news stories from around the world and compiles them into one place. When lumped together like that, it definately makes an impression.

Christians, for the most part, have gotten over the 'let's take over the world by force and make it all Christian'. They aren't blowing themselves up and promising to wipe entire countries off the map simply because they worship God differently.

1,000 years ago they threatened that. But Christians have, for the most part, moved on from that mentality. I'm sure you can find a few that think that way .. but FOR THE MOST PART, they don't.

It's pretty obvious that this site is extremely one sided and aims at pointing out the evil side of Islam. The same thing happens with everything that is dependent on man. You can look out there and see many more acts of kindness done by Muslims.

And, there are as many happy kind statements to be found in the Quran as there are ones speaking of violence in any form. And you should note that any time there is mention of violence, it's in defense of one's people from persecution, and is never in forcing conversion to Islam.

It should also be mentioned (although told to avoid by dbates) that Christianity has the same dark side. So do other religious and political belief systems, like socialism and capitalism. This is not meant to go shot for shot, but to show that anything belief held in the hands of us flawed humans is going to have it's corrupt sides.

That swings both ways too. People are always going to be fearful of what's different. And, as long as people separate themselves into subcategories, whether it's a political or religious belief, or a country, or whatever, there's going to be those who will fear them offhand and look for any excuse to persecute them.

It's been millennia but the song remains the same.

I see this as spin - of course religions have extremists, and some more than others.

These all seem like properly sourced and researched links, so I guess their message is that Islam is not the peaceful religion muslim moderates say it is.

And there lies the problem IMO - a line needs to be drawn between moderates and extremists - this site spins the extremist side, which is never a pretty sight or a pretty message.

I'd also question the OP's use of "the free world" - as if the "western" world is any less violent.

I expect there is an Islamic site which says pretty much the same thing about our leaders and the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, and can point to just as many if not more atrocities.

Tax is paid by those that didnt fight and defend the land to pay for those that were fighting to protect the land and the people.

Hindus killed hundreds of muslims because they thought a accidentel fire was caused by muslims,

the Indian national party (the hardline hindu group) was under scrutiny for failure to act when this happend aswell

so not really that peacefull (all faiths have their nut jobs)

diffrence is
that the quote was taken from one place and then used on its own
to understand one verse you have to look at which chapter its from and all the verses in it,

Religion of peace have the strange habbit of picking bits from diffrent sections and using it on its own to push their agenda.

hence why i gace two sites as it has the full verses and one even explains most of what their verses mean
