A Look Back At 2007

I'm not one to complain much but 2007 brought some real disappointments for myself and family members. We did have alot of good times, I'm just glad to see it go and I look forward to the new year.

One thing that really ticked me off this year was a visit to Ruby Tuesday's. The lady brings out my steak and I ask for the A1 sauce and she tells me they dont' serve it no more.

What kind of restaurant doesn't serve A1? At the end of dinner, while leaving her a big fat tip, I spoke up and told her I thought it was a mistake to not serve it anymore. She told me a lot of others were speaking up too.

My next disappointment is not really for myself but for my step brother. He was recently on the new game show, on ABC called "Dual." It aired all last week and the finale was last Sunday night. The jackpot was almost over 1.8 million dollars and he blew it. He made it further than anyone else in the game and still walked away with 55 thousand dollars. I'm sure he's disappointed with himself but we were and are proud of him. Not bad for a used car salesman.

Then, this past summer we had a friend go missing in Columbus. His parents had called us asking if we had seen him, which we hadn't. They made up fliers and pinned them on on telephone poles. They told us that, his wife, whom he had two children by had left him for one of their friends and that he had called his mom and said he was going to hurt himself. We didn't hear anything for months, and then finally got the phone call that a hunter had found him in woods hanging from a tree. I just ache inside, when my mind tries to come to terms with and comprehend, his last hours and the despair he was going through.

And then there is this.... a guy that myself, my husband and my sister went to highschool with, back in the early 80's was arrested in Columbus for trying to videotape little girls changing out of their swimsuits in his bathroom. The little girls found the camera and told their parents. They arrested him, and during questioning he told them that he had child porn. The cops got a warrant and seized all his videos & dvd's and has since had a 39 count indictment returned. The news is saying there are 9 victims and that he used some type of date rape drug of these poor children.

They are going to put this man under the jail and rightly so.

I hope 2008 is a good year for all of you to prosper and be blessed in every single thing that you do.

Now I can see that your friend hanging himself being terrible, and the child pornographer / rapist being even worse, but to compare all that with A-1 steak sauce not being served is sorta ridiculous. Maybe that one deserved a thread all it's own.

Your step brother is lucky to have won the 55 grand. He ended up with more than he started with, and that is a blessing. How's that a dissapointment?
