The second half of 2007 saw violence drop dramatically in Iraq, but the progress came at a high price: The year was the deadliest for the U.S. military since the 2003 invasion, with 899 troops killed.

I was REALLY surprised to read this. Silly me, thought things were 'getting better' in Iraq.. at least a little bit better. What is going on here? Our troops are fighting a war that cannot be won, stuck in a country accomplishing nothing, more unsafe then ever, and not coming home any time soon.
