Dont you mean 1 in 25 odds. I think you misread the increase in 1% to 4 % as 1 in 4 odds, anyway interesting news, Thanks.

Hey RHW,

I think you might be a tad confused with the probable impact. The source you quote states the odds being less than 4%. This is far below you title stating 25%.

Just a heads up.

I too hope we are able to witness a strike.

I wouldnt be so sure about that, being that we dont know much about mars.
Imagine someone on another planet hoping it hits earth for their own enjoyment lol.

But saying this, it would be interesting

This asteroid is estimated as being 164 feet wide. It is about the same size as the one that created the crater in Northern Arizona. We may be in for a big show if it hits.

I wonder if it will come close to the rovers Spirit and Opportunity That's if it hit's Mars. Earth will be right under Mars in orbit around the Sun. Could the Asteroid bounce off Mars and come at us? I doubt it but ya never know.

oh man, I was pumped when I read the title. Bu6t at only like 3.9% I'm not holding my breath that it'll hit. Still if it did hit and release water or something causing a Total Recall situation, that'd be cool

What crater? I've never seen a crater. What part of Arizona? I might have to check it out seeing I live in AZ.

The Meteor Crater is located in Flagstaff Az. Crater picture.

Thats scary! I've been to Flaggstaff plenty of times, and never noticed any signs of the big crater.

I just hope another one doesn't slam Arizona anytime soon, or I'm moving.

it's a fun place to visit....the crater has demons...or I mean diamonds....
you can go hunting for them....

guys, if you look at the projected path of this thing.....if it misses mars, it looks like it comes quite close to the earth's path, I have no idea of it's speed, and really didn't try to figure out how long it would take the earth to get to that point. but what are the chances of it coming to us? looks like it might be a possiblity...

I'm not so sure. According to the link below, that someone posted in the other thread, the next time it would come close to us would be around 2080. Even so, its orbit is a little tilted, and never seems to intersect our orbit. On that circa 2080 date, it would actually be off our southern pole a ways.

However, I do remember seeing a graphic of how the Earth's gravity changed the orbit (bended it) of a recent asteroid buzz by of us, so if this thing doesn't smash into Mars, I guess we'll have to wait for the data of if its orbit gets changed at all.
