Pick the correct definition of a word and rice will be donated for every correct definition you answer!

HELP FEED THE HUNGRY!

FreeRice

About FreeRice

FreeRice is a sister site of the world poverty site, Poverty.com.

FreeRice has two goals:

1. Provide English vocabulary to everyone for free.
2. Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.

This is made possible by the sponsors who advertise on this site.

Whether you are CEO of a large corporation or a street child in a poor country, improving your vocabulary can improve your life. It is a great investment in yourself.

Perhaps even greater is the investment your donated rice makes in hungry human beings, enabling them to function and be productive. Somewhere in the world, a person is eating rice that you helped provide. Thank you.

For every word definition you get right 20 grains of rice are donated thru the United Nations, as you play and get the answers right, you can see the pile of rice, on the right hand side, that will be donated grow with every right answer.

Well, that was fun and interesting.

I did it so long that the game started over, so I quit.

I was unaware of what to expect, so I'm not sure exactly how I did, but I think I earned something like 3700 grains of rice, unless I got a bonus. And my best vocabulary score was 45.

If this is not a hoax, I guess I did my part.

I like words, so at the very least it was fun and educational.

I hope they don't take away rice from the people if you get a word wrong.

Thats an interesting way to help the poor though.

This seems to be a legitmate program.

On the surface, it seemed like one of those Bill Gates or Warren Buffet hoaxes, but here's an article about it.

FreeRice is the latest brainchild of US online fundraising pioneer John Breen, who first tied funds to clicks on the Web in 1999 with the Hunger Site, at the time, a WFP partner. Breen runs the Poverty.com website, a portal for information and facts about hunger and related diseases.

Interesting concept to help those in need. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

The below game will not provide money to the needy but it is a way to show how hard it is to try to keep a farm/family/life in a 3rd would nation.

Excellent idea

I went up to 5,000 grains of rice.

I'll be doing this often. It's nice to be able to help people by just sitting on the computer.
