A Set Of Keys for Survival?

Topic started on 27-12-2007 @ 06:27 PM by Obsurion

I realize that no matter what the universe throws at you, whether it be a physical shift in landscape, war, pestilence, temperature spikes or even a threat from beyond, those survivors had what it takes to go up and beyond of what was considered typical.

The true set of keys for survival in all life is adaptability. no matter what era, what location, or threat being able to survive, live and grow is the constant of evolution. Changes that are constant to time itself, Time that is constant with evolution. They all weave in the same direction with alternate but relative patterns (or rather logical chains).

Events come and go, along with life. Seeking means of survival in coming events is natural and almost neccessary for society and sovereignty to exist. But it still doesn't answer the question. Is it Power through adaptation? Power to become victorious over all obstacles? A form of Omnipotence?

When people prepare for survival they usually invest in materials. Bunkers, concrete, maps, MRE's, mild weaponry, and other various tools to pamper the unfortunate experience. but what seperates these types of consumers from the wise men of the land? Man vs Wild Types, Naturalists, Preditors, Mcguyver, the John Rambo's of the Jungle. people who are able to survive nearly all situations in the wild armed with only their knife and wits. Of course weaponry helps, but only compares to a club in the hands of a caveman. The only apparent answer is knowledge. In the end, it will be what you know that will allow you to move on into the next phase.

However, such knowledge doesn't come easy. It isnt something you pick up at barnes and nobles, or sign up for at a local community college. Such knowledge will filter survivors from the rest of the populace, and sorry, but 1 round of boy-scouts won't save you. not against what is premeditated to come. To come across such knowledge takes, ambition, dexterity, stamina, and valor. Characteristics fully embraced by all Armed forces. with highlighted programs such as S.E.R.E come to mind (Survival Evasion Resistance Escape). If your anything like me, you'll probably won't be Enlisting anytime soon (willingly). If you came this far, your no novice on the subject. you know what you must do for preparation, you may not become a master but in investing time now you'll be able to get by if you plan ahead.

In preparation, should your hometown become the next New York, New Orleans, L.A, London or Hiroshima you'll know what to do. Your hometown might not be comparative to Baghdad, but don't expect mercy in the case that Marshal law is declared and your convenient store is mugged clean. Please don't Expect to be on the governments Safe List when you approach military facilities equiped with underground safehouses, in such scenarios you must be deemed worthy before hand. Unless they grow a heart (don't rely on it).

Adaptability will be your key doesn't matter if you've been left behind or not. Even in Cases of Situation-X. In the event of Situation-X you must Go up and Beyond in effort to survive. Whatever route you choose to take. When the Time comes trust your guts, and not your nuts. Instinct will be your guide.

For those currently in preparation, Good Luck

For I refuse to become Victim to world Corruption and Evolution.

The first and foremost rule of survival in a sit-x is to never become a refugee. I have yet to see a happy one were the people prospered. I will take the chance and go it alone with my family when tshtf.

Super post OBSURION, Thank you... Adaptatibilty, mindset, knowledge are what pull your chestnuts out of the fire and allow you to continue on. And the skills needed to survive HAVE to be practiced. The one most important "skill" is mental, never quiting, always problem solving, always looking foward. Not a very easy thing to learn when your wet/cold/hurt/tired, but if that mental strength isnt there... roasted nuts anyone???

Excellent advise. Really erks me to no end t here people say "well I could do it if I had to" WRONG If you can't think strait and gut a deer correctly now how are you going to do it while you are hungry and your kid is screaming at you cause it is cold and scared and you neighbor may be your next worst enemy. Sorry but the deer thing was the first one to come to mind.

To use skills under pressure one must practice forehand. Agreed Roasted chestnuts.

Of course practice makes perfect. Until you have had to build a shelter in a thunderstorm you don't really know how to build one. When things go south keeping a cool head is much harder that playing in you backyard. Even for those of use that have the skills drilled into us for many years, the wrong plan of action will get you killed. That is why it is called survival. Your mind does not work the same in an emergency situation. That is why I said to never become a refugee. If you stay in control you stay alive. Limit all outside influences to the ones that you can control and your chances improve exponentially. There are always options. Learn to exercise the right ones and you will make it.

A positive survival attitude and a fit body will take you a long way in any situation man-made or otherwise. You can have all the latest equipment, the coolest guns, and read all the manuals on survival that are available, but if you lack the mental and physical fitness to use those tools or aply those skills you're going to end up a statistic.

Prepare both your mind and body for the worse possible scenario your imagination can summon up, then practice, practice, practice.
