I want to see this movie. I don't know why..guess i'm a sucker for Alien films. I've seen the originals, up to 4 hundreds of times. What paul anderson did with the first one was unacceptable. Bishop dying and going out like a punk. I am hoping this movie is better, can't find any reviews or anything on it..it's like A FOX studio secret.

it looks interesting, so i'll check it out on thursday. Who else wants to see this? I hear these movies are a prequel to the original alien and in the end we will see the alien race end up on that planet due to the war with the predators. :bash:

Is the one you're talking about?

Alien vs Presdator 2

If so, it looks really good. I'll be watching it when it comes out.

Hope its gory and bloody, just like a good Alien vs Predator movie should be. This time it is rated R and all the previews I've seen (especially the first one) make it look pretty good. Heres to hoping

Jedimiller review.

AVPR is a transitional film. it starts minutes after the first one ends, the predator ship is infested by the predalien and the ship is taken down to crash in a small wilderness town.

The film is entertaining, and true to the comic books, in once scene we see the alien in circular form as seen in one of the covers of the books. it's also very good with the special effects. great costumes and flawless aliens and predator effects.

The acting..not so good. there is the military chick, ripley wannabe, the hero and the dumb characters running around, clueless.

But for the first time..we get a glimpse of the predator planet. looks somewhat egyptian but it was very cool to finally see this.

as the ship crashes on earth, the dying predator sends for help and another one comes to help..just one predator shows up for the rescue.

there is confusion, war and guts and cool gadgets all around. but the movie feels like a teen movie. it's weird to see aliens running around on earth, but I think the movie makes it work. it's a good movie, but not better than the first as far as acting goes..bishop did a great job in the first one.

in the end we see yutani, an asian female business entrepenuer, probably working with what's left of wayland's company. she get the predator gun at the end. Yutani is important to the prequel story.

because once she gets this technology she can advance all the workings of spaceships and colonies. So going back to Alien 1 and alien 2. you see that her company created most of those planet colonies and sites..so what does it all mean? that the predator technology is responsible for all the happening in the old movies. And in the end, maybe in AVP3 we will see how the giant spaceship got to the planet in Alien. but it's obvious that the predator race has something to do with the Aliens being there when ripley and crew arrives..

I think once we get to see all the AVP movies as prequels we will get to like them even more. in the first one we had Wayland and in this one we have yutani, that completes the company circle and explains the origins of the earth astronauts as seen in the old movies..

This movie doesn't give away too much, but focuses on the earth war and it gives us something to hope for.

We have to hope that this will lead to a better third movie, cos all in all it was pants. The linking thing with the other movies moves on nicely, but the script was paper thin and as for the black ops guy saying "What are you?" crap! With all his screens and stuff.

The acting was decidedly third rate.

Ho Hum...

I did like the effects and the fighting bits were cool, a little confused as to why only one Pred came to hunt/help?!?

Here's to number 3

Hoping

Bah, the first one was okeeeyyy at best. This one, I though, was worse. There's so much potential with these movies, but they keep making flops! WTF?

I don't think I can say it any better than this review: AvP-R review (warning for language)

Jedimiller?

My opinion - save your money. I went and saw it yesterday and Ouch.

Really poor acting, Special Effects were good, but if i were you just wait till you can rent it.

Heaps of blood and gore, but like i said - save your money.

The ending was a cop out. It seemed like the director(s) were like
"Oops, we ran out of money to finish the movie, how can we end it? I know we'll just Nuke everybody, Yeah thats a great idea."

It was ok up till then, but could have been so much more. It seems like they have to make at least 1 more now to "make up" for this movie. It should just be a ton of Aliens vs a group of Predators, in a jungle, with temples, in the daytime. That would be a good movie.

I went to see it openng day.

The Good:

It had good special effects. The Predator looked almost as good as the one in Predator. The Aliens looked like the Aliens in well, Aliens with the rigid head design. The Predalien looked decent. The nuke explosion was probably the best I have ever seen in a film. It was pretty bloody and had quite abit of gore. The Stryker vehicle was cool, too bad it didnt get used much like the APC in Aliens.

The Bad:

Plot holes, some I know are the result of deleted scenes. The different Predator ship plothole. (The Predalien escapes onto a scout ship from the mothership in a deleted scene.) The why there is only one Predator responding to the distress signal plothole. ( The distress signal is sent specifically to a relative, I think the father, and thats why we have the brief touching moment from the Predator when he examines the predator who sent the distress signal.) In other words the DVD will be better.

The acting was horrid, by everyone except the Sheriff, Coroner, and the scary government guy. The Pizza delivery crap almost killed the movie for me. The High school crap was also quite bad. One guy lived who should of most certainly died, he was impaled by the Predalien. Too many homages to the other films. The Babies and Pregnant Ladies scenes didnt add anything to the plot. They were there soley for shock and gore value.

My other gripes. Skinning the cop? Why? The Predalien reproduction method was kind of goofy. The Hive should of been at the Nuclear Power plant and not the Hospital. Should of had better pacing. The Pacing was terrible. The Special Forces guys should have killed everyone. (This was intended to be filmed, but they ran out of money. To bad it won't be filmed for the DVD.)

Overall: It was better than Alien: Resurrection. I would rate it equal to Predator 2, which was also full of bad lines, acting, and plot holes.

There will probably never be another Great film like Cameron's Aliens or McTiernan's Predator unless someone like them produces, writes, and directs it with a decent budget.

wow, thanks for that review mike. but I disagree with you about being better than alien 4. there's no way. actually alien resurrection is a fantastic film, once you watch it more times like I have you begin to understand the director's view. it's a really good film and i've seen it more than 50 times. I couldn't do that with avp2.

and we both agree on avp2. the effects..wonderful, but the acting horrid! :bnghd:

I lOVED AVP-R! But the ending leads me to think another sequel will be made, or a new Aliens movie. But I wonder, what lab was that the Pred's weapon was carried to? Was it Los Alamos? Lawerence Livermore? A seceret DARPA installation? I hope a new movie comes out that gives a little more information on this lab AND the Predetor's homeworld.

The first Alien/Predator flick came out during the Bush/Kerry election and ironically enough the phrase " no matter who wins, we lose!" was extremely appropriate.

Now the second flick is released 4 years later.
Could they now be referring to Obama/Clinton?

If you liked Alien Vs Predator: Requiem, then you'll love Alien Vs Hunter:

I don't begrudge the Global Asylum production company for its bizarre function in society. They make low-budget versions of big-budget blockbusters, films like Snakes on a Train, Pirates of Treasure Island, The Da Vinci Treasure, and the upcoming 100 Million BC. -- Ben "Greasnin" Platt at [color=786cd2]Something Awful -- Aliens Vs Hunter

Or not :shk:

Because the first group sent were like teens, training. The one Predator sent in AVPR was a veteran. It would be like, first group being kids just out of boot camp then sending a man who has seen action, fought and killed, to save their asses.

Answers to everyone else

The cop was skinned because he had a gun. Remember Predator Honor. If you have a weapon you will die. If you don't they won't attack you. Like the guy at the power plant. He was seen but didn't have a weapon so was allowed to live, until he got the gun and was killed at the cemetary.

As for plot holes, lots of deleted scenes and stuff left out due to budget.

Acting... If you didn't notice a lot of the actors were not big names, why? They didn't want you watching and go "I loved him in X, and she was great in Y!" They wanted actors that wouldn't break the line. Like a 555 number, they didn't want that. They wanted it to be like you were watching a documentary or something, watching something real. So unfortunately they didn't have the best actors but there was a reason. But I love the house the hero(male ones) lived in. It was a real house, shotgun shells, beer bottles, porn mags littered the place. A cleaning crew was hired to clean it up a bit before the camera crews would go in.

I remember seeing the first Predator film in theaters. Ah-Nold was still breaking out, at least he was pretty unknown to me. I was watching more for Jesse Ventura really. But I liked it. So I love the Predator films. Aliens... Not so much.

One thing i disagree with the predators concept is that they are not only a sentient species, but also one with a very high intelligence. Able to create advaced intersellar (if not intergalactical) technology!

Makes no sense if u relate it with their carnal and primal nature. It will make more sense if they were a semi sentient species. Not an animal but not very smart too. It also would make more sense if they are only a part of a more complex society. Serving as the warrior caste, a seperate species recruited as manpower in warfare.

The master caste could be some sort of a ethereal, then. They also have alien greys and green little men, serving as mechanics and engineers. Those who creates all of the weapons and ships used by the predators. The green engineers aliens are capable to photosinthese, which make them very efficient in producing energy source for them to carry their work. They are not a real species which could reproduce by themself, but rather cloned in a lab.

Back to the predators, they live in their own code of society. The warrior code, like the samurai perhaps. They gain rank and position by collecting as many trophies from their prey. The more dangerous the prey is, the higher score is added to the warrior. The entire hunting process itself is even monitored by a kind of surveilance technology.

Clashing the predators with the xenomorph aliens is a way controling (the number of)this savage species of predators. Otherwise they could attack their own masters. It is also a way of developing a constantly new and more efficient warfare and strategy, to serve the agendas of the master race. The predators are sometimes even killing among themselves. As depicted in the recent film PREDATORS (2010).

The xenomorps arent a sentient species. So its quite save to consider them wont spread interplanetary, without the help of other races possesing spacetravel ability. So they function as a insurance policy against the predators.

This scenario would make more sense to me, rather the one in the recent comic books.
