Alien like Plants

Topic started on 23-12-2007 @ 12:23 PM by agent violet

I believe this video was shot using a high speed camera, but I cannot be certain. Anyone know what type of plants these are? Many of them have attributes that appear to help them with what appears to be a form of defense mechanisms and such. Nonetheless, this is an interesting watch. I recommend watching it with the speakers/music muted.

Hi Violet.

To me they look to have been created with C.G.I.

If you notice in all of the plant shot's there is no insect movement.

plant's contain food for insect's so it would be logical that we see at least one but we dont.

Lee

That was really awesome. As a matter of fact I liked it so much I added it to my myspace profile!

Personally I think someone made the images like that but nonetheless it was worth my time to check it out.

Nice blend of eyes and colors and plant characteristics.

Some of them seemed underwater with the movement.

I liked the music with the video myself.

All in All It was FUN!

It's an art piece I've encountered several times. There should be no question as to its 'authenticity': I don't think it was ever intended to be displayed as 'real alien plants.

The thing with the wide, wide internet is this;
Someone does something pretty: a CGI piece, or an experiment with a video camera. They post it to youtube, sometimes with a minor description of what was done. Someone else encounters the work, and thinks, "Hmm. I wonder how many people I could fool with this." And with such thoughts, the latter person reposts the video on another site; this time, with a fabricated blurb about its contents -- or sometimes, not at all.

Unfortunately, due to its sensational description (or the lack thereof), the reposted video(s) may get more attention than the original.

Research uncovered that the video was made by 1st Ave Machine, an NYC-based CGI VFX/animation studio. As the video is not associated with anything else, my guess is that it was just a project created by the company, which later gained immense popularity on the web.
