Modern Signs that IDIOCRACY is becoming a reality

This is not just an American problem, but a problem for the Western World.

Dysgenics means:

Dysgenics is a term applied by some researchers to describe the evolutionary weakening of a population of organisms relative to their environment, often due to relaxation of natural selection or the occurrence of negative selection. ...

Many philosophical beings believe there is an effort to "dumb down" society. Television shows repeatedly promote "celebrities" who are famous for nothing and seem to lack any intelligence at all. Reality TV stars in the UK fail to know who Tony Blair was, anything related to the UK or even our national history (Big Brother star: Who's Shakespeare?). This "Big Brother generation" is in danger of becoming very unintelligent to previous generations.

Recently, the band Korn released a single which highlighted dysgenics and titled the track evolution

The video is very smart in the message. Especially pointing out the decline in the national average IQ. Television is in danger of making the population stupid and dependent on what to do in the life (where to eat, buy and even vote for).

As a people, we are in danger of declining as a civilisation if we do not act soon.

It's not just the western world. I fear it's starting to happen here in my country, too. This fascination for reality programs over current affairs. The people here mostly aren't even aware of their basic rights or even traffic laws. Driving in this country is a nightmare (but I hear it's worse in India).

Doesn't help that most of our TV programmes come from the West... but even local shows are getting more retarded by the minute. Hopefully the 'Asian over-achieving' factor balances out things, but at the moment the prognosis isn't good.

The government starts a lot of programs to get us more in-tune with the new IT or knowledge-based economy, but there isn't much of a follow-up done. Government web-sites here are a complete joke. The only efficient website they have is the Inland Revenue Board website (go figure ).

Rubbish! People are only as "smart" as they allow themselves to be. I read, a LOT, which allows me to learn about the world around me. It gives me a good base from which to draw conclusions about life, people, and so on.

Reading many different things, from as many points of view as possible gives a balanced perspective and allows you to draw reasonable conclusions based not just on what you have read, but from your own personal experiences too....

A school I once worked at taught its children to get their information from the internet in order to complete projects. The children were tasked with using Google (they were not told that there are other more appropriate search engines out there), and then to use wikipedia to get information... Almost as if Wiki is the only encyclopaedia or source of information on the planet.

Not only are the children being taught to be lazy (and thus STOOOPID), the teachers in the classrooms are being lazy, and trained in the art of being lazy - either that or they are too busy trying to fulfil their target grade requirements.

My mother was told, a long time ago, by our doctor that my younger brother was unlikely to ever achieve anything as he is medically STOOOPID. Yet, he is one of the most intelligent people I know. Why? He reads. He learns, and does not stop learning new things. His mind is always active. His passion is World War II. There is not a thing about the causes, actions, events and so on about that time in history that he does not know. He uses that knowledge to relate to current events. It gives him a keen mind. It also means he is not STOOOPID. I never see him watching television, but always reading a book or an article on the web.

My hat goes off to him because he is supposed to be "challenged" but he never gives up, and fights to be brainy like the rest of us...

It seems to me that people are being taught to be simple mindless automatons. That way, when the death squads start to round people up, no one will question, or resist. They will all be too STOOOOPID!

I'm going to use bad words here " THE BELL CURVE ". Statistically, a girl with a PhD in chemistry has fewer kids than a girl who can't spell chemistry. Statistically stupid people reach sexual maturity earlier and breed more than smart people ( and this applies within a racial group, without recourse to the exciting comparisons between racial groups that all right-thinking persons avoid ). Now, here, I have to either speculate or hypothesize, watch me now, don't look honey, tell me when it's over... the reason why intelligence was not selected against and bred out of the species was that intelligence carried with it better killing skills, and since murder is quicker than childraising (not an anti-abortion remark ) the intelligent were able to outkill the breeders faster than the breeders could outreproduce the intelligent. ( This is of course crudely oversimplified, crass social Darwinism, and more appropriate to a less-enlightened age when people didn't know enough to appreciate the contributions of non-contributors ). Currently of course in most nations murder is illegal and breeding is not, and this, together with such policies as progressive taxation and national health insurance ( poor people are stupid, stupid people are poor ) does tend to exert a dysgenic effect. But I think this is a problem that takes care of itself, because as the unsuitable proliferate, society falls apart, somebody knocks the power plants off of the end table, then there is no law, everything gets mean, and intelligence reasserts itself. Boy I just said so many true things now I feel dirty.

Quite agree with you; the use of language is indeed a strong indicator of intelligence: long-term studies of nuns have shown that the complexity of one's written language skills has an inverse correlation to one's susceptibility to Alzheimer's in later life. Simply put, the better your writing skills, the less chance you have of dementia in old age.

No, that video is another good point, so is the one of the US beauty Queen on why Americans can't find themselves on the map (apparently, she is a smart girl).

But, have notice how our politicans talk to us like we are children?
