Memo sparks foreign criminals row

Immigration officials have "no interest" in deporting foreign prisoners who have served less than 12 months in jail, a memo says.

The admission was made in a memo from Prison Service deputy director general Michael Spurr to prison governors.
Ministers pledged to remove 4,000 foreign prisoners by the end of 2007.

BBC home affairs correspondent Danny Shaw said that the memo presented a different picture.

Why doesn't this surprise me.
This government has lied, cheated and broken promises throughout their time in office.
Tough on crime my backside.

Now, despite the furore over our overcrowded prisons, a memo reveals that they pretty much can't be bothered.

Could this government possibly show any more contempt for the electorate?

Even the Italian government have shown more backbone that browns lot - and if that isn't an indication of a weak self centred party, then I don't know what is.
