WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul has received a $500 campaign donation from a white supremacist, and the Texas congressman doesn't plan to return it, an aide said Wednesday.

Don Black, of West Palm Beach, recently made the donation, according to campaign filings. He runs a Web site called Stormfront with the motto, "White Pride World Wide." The site welcomes postings to the "Stormfront White Nationalist Community."

Hmmm, methinks the Ron paul frenzy may have past its zenith. I see him very similar to the Perot run at the White House years past. People gravitate to him in the short term, but when push comes to shove will cast thier votes elsewhere. Im not buying the explanation for taking it either. Will he take money now from Hizballah next?

Since his politics have nothing to do with white supremacy this is like trying to smear him. The MSM is quick to jump on 500 Dollars from this guy, but what about all the stuff not covered by MSM?

If a white supremacist wants to give me $500 dollars I will take it. Like Skyfloating pointed out. This sort of stinks like media mud slinging.

Ha, a man named Black sends $500 dollars to support whites. Sorry, I find that kind of funny.

Anyhow I find the explanation plausible. I don't necessarily buy it as the gospel truth, but it's a lot easier for me to believe that $500 from a white supremacist won't influence a politician compared to a guy that takes thousands from a corporate sponsor. I guess only time will tell.

It is funny that the media will give coverage to a 500 dollar donation to Paul. But turn a blind eye to Hillary somehow pulling in 500k in questionable donations from Chinatown.

I would tend to believe that a Paul's donation would have far less impact on the country than her taking half a million from China.

The question is not "who did this $$$ come from", and thereby cast judgment; the question is was this money from people who had a right to donate? Unlike many, RP tell us the good , the bad, and the ugly.

But do you want a president that allows everybody to participate, or only those that enough people approve of? You see, here is where we have to make a decision between electing someone that acts and does the same thing all the time, or someone who has the backbone to do what's right for all the diversity that is America?

This is the lie that is modern American politics; the refusal to represent ALL of the people, no matter what they believe or espouse. Is the agenda of these people - US citizens - any less significant than those who oppose abortion? same sex marriage? immigration? tax reform? whatever? Do they not have the same right to seek representation in the American political system as any other group?

NO, I personally do NOT agree with the ideals they espouse. But I have defended this nation for them to have te right to express their position. Why then would I want a president that felt that their position was unworthy of consideration? (To consider something is NOT the same thing as endorsing.)

Have we come to the point of political correctness that we decide who is muzzled in the political arena? That we decide who has a right to contribute to the process, and who does not? Are we at the point where a supposed free society restricts the voices we would rather not hear?

NO! Resoundingly I say the word. I have no part with these people, I abhor their very premise, but they have an equal right to be a part of the political process as any of us.

Once you start down the slippery slope of deciding who can be a part of the electorial process, you are well on your way to exactly what is wrong in America now. This new idea of political correctness is just a new variant of the "Jim Crow" laws of the first half of the 20th century.

Please, think long and carefully about how you evaluate information.

While it appears to be unfair that $500 to Paul is being blasted over the MSM, as compared to Hillary's ties to a known Chinese conman, I do not agree with the Paul campaign's decision to KEEP this contribution.

That guy Black, and his lame racist movement is something I would keep as far away as possible.

It is only $500, this should have been a "no-brainer"

Give it back, denounce what Black stands for and move on with your campaign.

Keeping the money will mean certain DOOM for his candidacy...

...or could this be his Perot move to get out?

Apparently the pride of the Ron Paul Campaign is the money he has squeezed out of the American people to fund his dream, even though anybody routed in reality can see that he has ZERO chance of actually becoming president. Its no surprise to me that this guy would take $500 or $500 million from any source. More money to blow up in the quest to fulfill his fantasy of time warping the US back to 1776.

I have a life thank you, I also have common sense to know this will end his chances in 2008.

I like alot of the positions Paul stands for, I don't think he will win the Republican nomination, but I hoped that his campaign would be strong enough to run as an Independent.

I hoped to have him as a possible viable choice, if he doesn't not give back this contribution, he will not have a chance to win next November, and it will be a shame.

One man, one 500 dollar donation, and that's big news? I believe anybody from any walk of life should give their money to whom ever they please. Especially a measly 500 dollars, that doesn't sound like "special interest" group to me. Sounds like some idiot who's probably really stoked about the constitution regardless of his ridiculous social outlook. If you're outraged by this, I wonder what you'd do if you found out what AIPAC has been up to.

I understand your post, and agree with it to some extent, but you cannot deny that Paul will be hammered to oblivion by ALL sides on this issue in the MSM, and like it or not it does have a big effect.

That is why I don't understand keeping this contribution.

It is purely politics, you have to weigh that into the equation no matter how much we don't like the way the game is played right now.

Most voters don't spend the time like we do here analyzing the candidates, a story like this will be burned into the minds of potential voters by the MSM.
