Breaking! Fire breaks out in office near the Whitehouse

Firefighters battled thick smoke and flames inside the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, next door to the White House, on Wednesday.

Smoke could be seen from the White House driveway.

Video showed firefighters breaking a window and spraying flames with a hose.

A spokesman for the D.C. Fire Department said the fire started in an electrical closet or telephone bank area on the third floor.

Firefighters responded very quickly, said Alan Etter.

something about a fault, but FOXNews have dismissed it as a rumour. Apparently its been proved wrong.

The building is currently being evacuated. Secret service out on the White House lawn now.

President not in the White House,

I can imagine there is some Sensitive info in there, and Gosh knows what papers they may have laying around Fax's ect, I'm sure they have to really grab what they can before letting people in,

I bet a bomb will go off.

Edit: I'm gonna agree with the poster above for the most part.

Perhaps the administration is getting antsy about their actions coming to light?

"Let the flames eat the info."

Most of the offices are apparently "ceremonial" Asala, So I have no idea what kind of information is stored in the location.

I bet a bomb will go off.

I doubt it.

Well I guess the White House budget is suffering a short cut on the maintenance department.

Probably some old electrical wires been overworked, it happens a lot during winter time on old homes specially if when maintenace fail.

Somebody will get fire for this.

The firefighters are just standing around chatting now...that means that they have either;

a) put out the fire

or

b) gone on a wildcat strike

Hey, a one line post.
Which adds nothing to the conversation.
By a mod.
Where's the "Mod edit:One line post" tag?
Just wondering.

Relax! It's a joke.

It may be a one line post but it adds historical reference to the conversation and it's damn funny if I do say so myself.

I thought it was pretty funny, myself.
But "rules is rules", and there is one in place pertaining to one-liners.
Being a mod shouldn't excuse one from following them.
Correct?

hmmm another post that adds nothing to the topic...

Seriously, I can't imagine them letting firemen just run into the building without securing a few things first, how old is that building, flames would probably travel pretty fast through that place...

"Rules is rules"?

Then how about your derailing this thread waaaay off topic to make some kind of stupid point?

I'm pretty sure this anal retentive demonstration isn't ingratiating you toward anyone reading this.

My advice... KNOCK IT OFF!

Please stay on topic.

Let's please not derail this thread, and keep complaints where complaints belong: complaints/suggestions

----

I hope there were no injuries to anyone in the building, so far there are none reported. I also hope no important documents that may have been recently "reviewed" were near the fire.

It appears that whatever happened, is over. I agree with the poster who said they wanted to destroy some documents...
