I considered shaking, indeed I reproduced the still-camera results that way with just a regular lens and tripod, but for telescopic views where the shape is consistent in multiple frames I was stumped. If the source of the vibration was consistent though, like a pager motor, the resulting star streak should be fairly constant, right? I'm excited, time to try it out!
